Background:

Graphic design, web design and photography have been my passions for over fifteen years, ever since receiving my BA in Arts from School of Fine Arts. My background is interesting: I have lived in five countries on three continents. I was born in Bordeaux, France; grew up in Marrakech, Morocco, and Abidjan in Ivory Coast and live now in South East Asia. Having experienced a large diversity of cultures since early childhood has broadened my horizons and made me very adaptable to multicultural environments.

I've had various life experiences, from web design to Zen Buddhism to NGOs. As Leo Burnett said "Curiosity about life in all of its aspects, I think, is still the secret of great creative people". This sums up my personal philosophy: I've always had many interests; philosophy, literature, technology married with liberal arts and humanities.

Professional Experience:

After graduating from Fine Arts School, I began my career in Paris as a webmaster and web designer for a fashion web startup on the Champs Elysees Avenue before moving to South East Asia seven years ago. I have now twelve years experience as a Digital Creative Director in branding, advertising (ATL-BTL), print, digital, UI/UX, photography. I'm very hands-on and possess a 360° view of technology and design with a proven ability to develop unique creative solutions from strategy to content, design and execution.

As a CD I have supervised and led digital creative outsourcing for major brands across the Asia Pacific region: Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan and Australia for clients including: Canon Asia, Telecom Malaysia, ANZ Royal Bank, Wing, Yeos, Société Générale, Online, Asahi, LG, Intercontinental Hotel.

Non-Profit Organizations:

I have worked on several humanitarian and charity projects with international NGOs in Cambodia: Heritage Watch, USAID, UNAIDS, European Union, UNDP, PSI, Mission Australia, WSP, ILO, Khmer Rouge Trials, Worldvision, Craft Network.

Interests:

Digital Trends, advertising, art, technology, photography, travels (France, Spain, Germany, England, Switzerland, Morocco, Ivory Coast, India, Japan, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Australia, Singapore), languages (English and Khmer), reading, jogging and meditation.

Specialties:

Creative direction, concepts, strategy, web design, UI/UX, graphic design, advertising, branding, photography.

Photography:

Although not being a professional photographer stricto sensu, I've been practicing photography constantly with passion for 20 years. I can't live without a camera. This Flickr portfolio is only for my photos. For my Web and Print work I use another website: www.jeremie-montessuis.com Password available on request.

Photo Gear:

Simple but efficient, using now a Canon Eos 60D, Canon 50mm f1.4,Tamron 17-50 f2.8, and a Stilk tripod.

In the film days I owned countless cameras, DSLRs and compacts: Minoltas, Canon, Olympus, Nikon F5 etc.
I would develop films and enlarge pictures in the Lab myself,
I first learned the basics in the photo lab at the School of Fine Arts in Besancon, France. Fun times. But I much prefer now Photoshop's magic and I don't regret chemistry although there was at times that magical and exciting moment when
a real gorgeous photo would appear magically under the lab's red light.

Major influences: Man Ray, HCB, Steve McCurry, James Natchwey, Elliot Erwitt, Ernst Haas, Araki, Gursky, Depardon, Roland Neveu, Tim Hetherington, and many others including unknown but extremely talented photographers on Flickr.
