Having used Flickr for a good few years some pruning is long overdue. I originally used Flickr as a place to store photos, mainly to free up my lap-top. My use of Flickr became a mixture of play & work. A collection was now beginning to form. Some of this collecting activity fed into some projects (: eg a series of art exhibition projects, including Documenting the City).

I am slowly re-arranging the photos into more coherent sets & collections on Flickr:

photos.landscape.history | Reflecting my interests in travel and history, I found that over time my Flickr photos began to focus on the South Wales industrial landscape. In addition Flickr provided a ready format for further documentation of place through related web materials, becoming a handy research resource.

New digital camera in hand, I soon engaged a documentary impulse. Exploring local landscapes, layers of history and memory. Collected fragments. Patterns of formation and transformation. Post-industrial landscape. New landscapes of regeneration.
