I'm a grad student in ecological engineering at SUNY ESF in Syracuse, NY. Also a former professional environmental engineer. I love bikes & cycling, hiking & backpacking, live music, veg food, traveling, and (of course) research.
Like a lot of people, I got into photography because of a love of nature. I especially enjoy the kind of photography that incorporates adventure travel and trekking. Galen Rowell is my favorite from this area because he used his climbing skills and wilderness knowledge to put himself in places other photographers could not go.
I also really enjoy non-fashion portraiture and 'street' photography. I get motivated to shoot more from photos of moments or expressions that can't be replicated.
As a cyclist and bike nerd, I seek out and consume a lot of 'bike-porn'. It's addicting!
I (mostly) shoot with a Panasonic LX5, iPhone 4, or Nikon D80 and occasionally on film with my mother's old Minolta XG-1 35mm SLR.
