Macroscape - April 2011
The recent macroscape images are photographs of natural and man-made objects used in combination to create miniature landscapes. The images explore ideas of ambiguity and similarity between small-scale and large-scale phenomena such as mountains, stretches of water, and buildings. In these miniature landscapes, objects transform into rocks on the seashore, or bushes, or glacial structures. The process confers a new existence upon these objects, which are often old or discarded. Another important aspect of these images is the lighting, which is of the same importance to the composition as the objects themselves. This work carries the same ideas as the work with ink in water; here expressed in different ways.
Hope you enjoy them!

    Sophie Shapiro says:

"I have seen and admired Pery’s work for some time now. Each and every composition is a collection of ideas, colours and depth. There are great mysteries in her work taking you on different and exciting journeys through planets, space and time. One could simply become transfixed by the phenomenal amount of work Pery produces. Her energy and intellect transports the viewer into her secret world and she so willingly shares it with us all. I hold Pery in very high esteem and wish her the very best for the future.

    Layne Robertson says:

"Pery Burge is a truly inspirational artist. Her work is beyond beautiful. The title of each work gives each piece a story behind it. I've never seen something so frustratingly confusing, yet so simple and magnificent all at once. Each piece of Burges' is perfect in every aspect. The colors are brilliant, the compositions perfect, and the textures are wonderful. She is no doubt a master of her work."
