I was born and raised in the Detroit area and except for a period of time in the military I’ve always lived in this area. My interest in photography started shortly after I graduated from high school when I bought my first camera which was carried with me during my time in the service to the U.S. East Coast, Puerto Rico, Greece and Italy. This time in the service gave me the opportunity to capture images of places I had only read about or seen in magazines. My photos from this time are still some of my most favorite. As a result of my military experience I was taught the importance of redundant systems and to always have a backup! Through the years this training of mine followed over into photography. Much to the amusement of my dear wife and children they have always had to reluctantly endure that second shot (and sometimes third), just to be sure I had one good family group photo!

Over the years I’ve always enjoyed my monthly issue of National Geographic with images of places all over the world. The photography in this magazine has inspired me to continue to look for unique photo opportunities that will interest the viewer. Since my involvement with "flickr" I’ve also met so many fantastic photographers that inspire me as well.

When I think of photography, I like best its unique ability to capture the illusion of making time stand still. These photos of brief moments in time can be truly inspirational and can include so much emotion! I love this art form called photography and recommend to anyone to get on up, get moving and get that shot!
