I am passionate about the world we live in and would like nothing more than to travel and take photographs and get paid for it. Alas I have probably left it a bit late to do that. I have very eclectic tastes in what I like to photograph, pretty much anything which takes my eye.
I particularly love unusual and/or historic buildings (tiles, windows, shutters, verandahs, stonework, peeling paintwork) and flowers - I keep on trying with my macro shots and need to spend some time improving on what I've got. Saying that I do find it hard to resist a pretty flower.

I have travelled a lot, starting from when I was 17 and I hitch-hiked through Europe with a friend, eventually following the 70s hippy trail through Afghanistan to India and settling in South Africa for several years, mainly around the beautiful city of Cape Town.
Unfortunately I didn't have the greatest of cameras then - oh how I wish the digital age had come sooner! However, I have been privileged to see many places before the advent of mass tourism and commercialism.
I'm not a beach person (unless photographing beaches counts), I much prefer road trips and visiting lots of places for a short time, wandering around with my camera (and OH) clicking away. Latest was driving down Pacific Highway 1 in California from San Francisco to San Diego - fantastic!
I think of myself as being a very honest person, loyal to my friends and plain speaking (blunt I think some people call it), but you get what you see with me - being from Yorkshire explains a lot :)
I started using Flickr as a place to back-up all my photos, and also to share family photographs with, well, the family! As a result there are some photos on here that are not the greatest of shots. I am a little bit more discerning now, and filter and edit my photos before uploading them and making them public. However, there are still photos on Flickr that I need to cull. I will eventually get around to it, but meanwhile I am about two years behind in uploading pictures from travel abroad, not to mention those taken in the UK. Oh well, I guess I shal never run out of things to do.
Flickr is a great way to see other places and fantastic photos; there's a lot of interestingness out there!
