Hi, my name is Rachel and I am a native of New York - the best city in the world! I love photography because of the way it immortalizes a moment in time and has you share your emotion with others. Some of my favorite things to photograph are the urban scenes that I grew up with from the old fashioned cobble stoned streets to the big sky scrapers, many wonderful parks with beautiful trees, flowers and greenery and the people that dwell here. I particularly like the diversity of this great town. Trying to capture the energy, color and textures of this city is a challenge I love!

I am greatly fortunate to study the philosophy, Aesthetic Realism founded by Eli Siegel, an American poet, critic and educator. Studying this principle, "All beauty is the making one of opposites, and the making one of opposites is what we are going for in our own lives.&quot, has given my life a new, hopeful direction. I am so grateful for the beautiful understanding of myself, the world, and people which has inspired me to pursue art after many years of feeling I couldn't. I feel so fortunate to have studied with Chaim Koppelman, and continue to study with Dorothy Koppelman. In every class she shows how we as artist and people, hope to have a beautiful composition of the opposites that are in the world and ourselves. I have studied art in many places, from the High School of Art and Design, to classes at The Art Students League, and the Educational Alliance.

In classes at the Aesthetic Realism Foundation, you study art and learn to see deeply, richly, the opposites that are right before us, and also inside of us: and learn to make a beautiful composition in both!

Through this class, I have felt inspired to do a better job both as an artist, and a person!! I love passionately pursuing this. I invite you to as well!!
