I'm from the United States but have had the great fortune of spending a lot of time in Latin America, mostly in Colombia and El Salvador. Working with various non governmental organizations in Colombia, I've seen so many extraordinary people, projects, and stories, and feel a great sense of commitment and solidarity with Colombians and all people living in difficult situations.
I have started a non profit, which I operate part time, and have pledged to give 100% of all donations to the causes designated by donors. I take no administrative costs and finance my living expenses by working as a bartender at night and speaking to students and organizations during the day.
