Kai Livingston's photostream
|
The background of Kai Livingston is from wonderful Istanbul, the only city in the world that straddles two continents, Europe and Asia. He was born in the winter of 1973. Since his childhood years, he's been paying attention to everything around him and always had interesting visions but blinking his eyes wasn't helping him to capture his visions and he never had the chance to have the right tools, either. He's started seriously to take photos in New York City in the fall of 2007 with his beloved Nikon D40.
Kai explains his work: "When someone asks me this question... What kind of pictures do you take? My answer is quite simple. I actually make all kinds of pictures that have something to tell to people who view them. "The Visions of Kai Livingston" are hundreds of empathetic and interesting images about every aspect of life that will provoke you to think about how much do you care and appreciate your life, all the people and things around you. I sincerely hope that my visions may be an inspiration and motivation for the humanity."
Although Kai Livingston is dual citizen of USA and Turkey, he feels like a world citizen. He loves people for what they are and not because of a place of birth. He is currently living in Brooklyn with his beautiful wife Aylin.

"Kai has been an amazing and inspiring Flickr friend. With his outstanding photography he presents ordinary objects, or combinations of objects in a totally unique, and beautiful way.
His love of people and optimism for the human race shows in his sometimes challenging words. He makes the viewer think, and look at situations in a different light - and often from another point of view to our own. I love his courage when he "goes against the flow", and share his dreams for a happier, fairer world where people respect and help each other, and differences are to be celebrated in friendship - not a cause for suspicion and conflict."27th December, 2008

"I have got to know Kai about 8 months ago. I had seen his capture of an amazing cloud formation above the Empire State Building in the Interestingness archives. I commented that it seemed like the building was emitting energy, and received a flickrmail soon after from Kai that he also had noticed that and that I was the first to mention that. From that time on I have been following the work of Kai; his amazing captures of daily life in NYC with his valuable reflections. Each time it makes you think. Each time you wonder what the next posting will look like. Each time you are surprised. Kai, thank you for the good work!"

Secondly, he is such a good hearted person, who puts into words so much of how I feel but cannot voice. His quotes and own words always inspire. I feel so lucky to have encountered him on my journey through flickr!"15th August, 2008

"If you need to see sunshine, look at Kai, for his open-hearted and caring smile sends golden rays through his buddy icon. If you are disheartened by the violence, terrors or materialism in the metropolitan cities, follow Kai's photo stream and you'll find humanitarian concerns everywhere.
Kai's love for friends, people and the city he lives in is so direct, simple, unreserved and altruistic that one could immediately feel it at the first visit. Yet, if one spends a bit more time reading his photo statements, the spiritual reward is priceless for they are soul-touching and profound in such a simple and direct message-- Kai loves you.
Every bench, every tree, every brick, every window and every door in New York is retouched by Kai's creativity and humanitarianism that I've realized that it's not only New York but the World in a larger scope Kai would like the visitors to break through the invisible walls and high rises to reach out to love the world we are living in and the people we are living with.
Every moment spent on Kai's stream is a treat to the soul. I am so glad to have got to know Kai, an amazing source of warmth, love, and hope just like the torch held by the Statue of Liberty. Thank you for being a great and encouraging friend, dear Kai!"17th February, 2008

"Dear Kai,
I'm so happy and honored to be able to write this testimonial for you.
I had no idea when I added Kai as a contact, that he would soon turn out to be one of my favorite photographers here on Flickr.
This testimonial is going to fall short of really giving Kai the credit he truly deserves, but let me begin by looking at his photostream.
Kai's work is so wonderful because he always sees something in life we may not always pay attention to. His photostream his filled with all types of subjects and themes. He photographs people, nature, objects, landscapes, birds and dogs, and much more. I'm always interested in what or where he will turn his camera to next.
Some of my favorites from his beautiful stream is "The Rays of the Sun" which is awe inspiring and so striking - it is like a great light into the soul. He matches it with a beautiful quote, definitely check out this photo for yourself.
One of my personal favorites is "Islam Means Peace." It is deeply touching and moving not only for the wonderful image of the mosque, achieved through Kai's skillful processing techniques but for the words Kai writes, showing what a caring and compassionate soul he has.
"The Doors" is absolutely fantastic - so creative and one of the most unique scenes I have seen on the entire world of Flickr. The fact that he saw this image while walking in the park, shows what a great eye Kai has for wonderful scenes of interest.
I have so many other favorites from Kai, like "Lovers in the Park", "Walking Alone" and "Hands."
I recommend his photostream highly as you can easily tell :D When I visit Kai's stream, and I visit always, I come away with much more than just a wonderful view, perspective and image, but I also come away with words to fill the heart because Kai combines his wonderful work with wise, thoughtful and deep words. He makes me think, he makes me look at something twice, he makes me appreciate life, he makes me see beauty in the hidden corners of our existence, he inspires me to expand my way of thinking, he encourages acceptance of all people and ways of life.
Traveling through Kai's photostream is a wonderful journey through the eyes of Kai and and his kind heart and soul. He gives so much to others through his photos. I'm amazed by his beautiful vision, check out his stream, you will be moved and inspired.
Thanks Kai for sharing your wonderful work with all of us. I'm so glad to have you as a friend on Flickr. Looking forward to more of your visions in the future :))
All the best,
M."25th January, 2008
