I am proud to say I have known Russell since he was a mere Parish Priest, before he was admitted to the College of Cardinals, before he became Pope, and certainly before he achieved his ultimate divinity. Yet none of this has changed him. He is still gracious and humble. He still makes wry and on target observations. His witty comments still make mere mortals spray their monitors with whatever food or drink that may be in their mouths.
I can say the following things with certainty about NC&L:
1. I wish he and I were brothers. Although my dad was stationed in England (and always had trouble keeping his zipper up), we bear no striking resemblance. I will have to be content that he is my brother from a different mother.
2. If you have any sense of humor Russ will make you laugh so hard your sides will ache.
3. He makes me wish the colonies had never split from the Empire.
4. His photos make British history come alive. The Lewes Bonfire, wow! Who knew us Catholics are still so hated in an Anglican Country?
The best thing I can wish for anyone (bored enough) who has read this all the way through is that NewCagneyandLacey (Russell) will bless you, spiritually and with his friendship.

CagneyandLacey is the most pious person I have ever known. When he's not studying the Holy Book, he is meticulously viewing every single photo on Flickr and writing thoughtful and constructive reviews about technique and composition.
He has personally blessed at least 3 of my photos, which then miraculously made it to Explore! I will be forever grateful to the deity known as Cagney.
