Thanks to a good friend, I was able to borrow a DSLR for the first time a few years ago. I found a whole new world through the lens. Eventually he wanted his camera back (the nerve!), so I bought my own Nikon D40.
Now I'm working as an assistant to a tremendous wedding and landscape photographer who lets me use one of his Canon 20Ds.
I'm still amazed at that I am able to (mostly) produce in photographs what I see through the lens and in my mind.
Each one of us possesses wonderful creativity - we just have to find it. By God's grace, I think I found it.
