Hi, I'm a photography hobbyist since college, I love taking pictures. I am addicted to podcasts such as Chris Marquardt's Tips from the Top Floor, and love learning about photography from people like Chris and all of you.

I love Flickr and the many wonderful photos and talented photographers that are present here. It's a testimony to the human spirit and creativity.

I started out on Flickr Pro as the "applestoreguy" but a podcast I had planned didn't work out. At that time, I had posted some Ukrainian dance festival pictures using just a tiny point-and-shoot digital. They were published and that was exciting. I will leave these Ukrainian slides on Flickr. They were taken in July 2004.

NEW FOCUS

I want to change my focus to a new one — a blog that I just started called "36 Years Ago" at 36yearsago.com. This blog is a retrospective look at myself when I was young (like you guys and girls) in the year 1971. I was age 22, and starting my first venture as a student in Vienna, Austria—36 years ago.

I also want to re-energize my photography posting to Flickr. There will be plenty of pictures that I took during that year and that I will post in my blog and here in Flickr. These pictures were 35mm slides taken with a Nikkormat camera, 50mm lens and a 150mm (I think), zoom lens. I had the photos scanned by "DigMyPics.com" -- they did a great job, hand checking and cleaning each slide. A few slides had a bit of gunk that couldn't be removed but the majority came out great. These slides are 36 years old (are you getting the title now?) :-) It is an amazing testament to Kodak that these slides held up so well. There are over 600 of them but I won't post all of them. They will be posted as they come up in my journal entries.

I hope that you will enjoy them. I hope that you will visit my blog, start reading from the beginning, and then comment or send emails.

I have a couple of questions:

• What is the optimum size for Flickr photos? Should I send the full-size originals or downsize them? If so, to what size?

• How do I get Flickr slides or slide shows to display on a website?

• Any good programs out there that I should buy? I use Rapidweaver on a Mac.

• I would welcome any comments and suggestions that you might have.

Thanks all. Hope you visit.
