I've been taking photographs for more than 25 years and consider myself a serious photographer and also a new media artist. Urban landscape and street photography are where my passions lie.

Although I'm quite shy, I've always had a fascination with people, particularly strong characters and their individual peculiarities. My curiosity about these people often plays a central role in my street photography. When photographing urban landscapes, I look for a different perspective, one that perhaps we don't notice in our day-to-day meanderings through our urban environments.

When I'm out on the streets with a camera I rarely have a plan, I simply follow my instincts and see what happens. In many respects I also tend to not follow photographic rules, which I find too limiting. This can of course lead to shots which are "technically imperfect", however they're more often than not incredibly interesting and that, to me is more important.

I prefer to work with smaller cameras as they enable me to be more stealthy and react in a manner that minimises my interference with the scene that is developing. I try not to dictate a meaning for my photographs, preferring to let my viewers find their own meaning and come up with their own stories for them.

My inspirations in photography are some of the great street photographers of the late twentieth century. Gary Winogrand, Diane Arbus, Bruce Gilden, Mark Cohen, Daido Moriyama and Joel Meyerowitz to name a few. I'm also greatly inspired, probably even more so, by many of the great unknowns in street photography, who's work has only become accessible with the advent of the internet and in particular social networking.

I'm also an avid iPhoneographer and use the medium for my more artistic works.

Experimenting and exploring are essential.
