This account is the Flickr presence of the Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons user who goes by the pseudonym "BanyanTree". It is mainly used to thank people who have been nice enough to license their images under CC-BY or CC-BY-SA and let them know that their images are being used.

If anyone wishes to make their images eligible for use on Wikipedia and its sister projects, please choose the license Creative Commons Attribution or Attribution-ShareAlike. More restrictive licenses, such as CC-NC or CC-ND, conflict with the Wikipedia site license and copyright and cannot be used. While there is always the worry that your image will end up in a TV commercial used to sell greasy bacon or toilet cleaner if you don't retain full rights, this does not appear to have occurred in the history of Wikipedia so one can assume that the chances of it occurring are rather low. Meanwhile, the chance of a photo improving an article that lacks an image is 100%.

If you have taken a picture of something and notice that the Wikipedia article doesn't have an image, you don't have to wait for some desperate Wikimedia Commons or Wikipedia user to come searching for it. You are absolutely encouraged to create an account on Wikimedia Commons and upload the image yourself.

A brief explanation, as most people know what Wikipedia is but Commons is unknown. Commons is the shared media resource for all of the projects of the Wikimedia Foundation. For example, previously, if someone on English Wikipedia noticed a useful image on Japanese language Wikipedia, they would have to download the image to their computer and upload it for use on English Wikipedia. Media on Commons appears on all of the Wikipedia languages, as well as Wikinews, Wikisource, etc etc.
