Hi, I am Ken Henderson from Washington. I have been involved with photography for over 50 years. 28 of those was as a Professional Photographer. I started Washington Camera Club in 1968 and I am Life-President & Chairman. My main interest has always been Portraiture and Female Figure studies.
Up until 1994 I was a Photographic Judge with the Northern Counties Photographic Federation and as a Senior experienced Judge I was on the Judge's Panel of the N.C.P.F. assessing aspiring Judges.
I was awarded letters after my name for my services to Amateur Photography (A.P.A.G.B. - Award of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain).
I used to go around many Camera Clubs, both Judging and demonstrating Studio Lighting, firstly using Tungston Lights and later on using Studio Flash units. My two main lighting specialities were Low Key & High Key lighting. All of my hobby work was in Monochrome using a traditional 'wet' darkroom.
Nowadays I am totally digital and am now really enjoying the hobby more because of the freedom to take as many pictures as I want without the hassle of many hours in the darkroom. My whole ethos is quite simple -If you like it, then take it.Other people liking it is a BONUS. In my opinion photography is : A communication of an emotion. If you convey the emotion you felt when you took the picture, to someone who wasn't there, then that must be a successful image.
