Frosted Flatwoods Salamander (Ambystoma cingulatum)

My lifelong fascination with nature and wildlife has led me into the biological sciences, a field where I can combine my passion for the outdoors with scientific investigation. I am currently a Florida State University PhD student studying ecology and evolutionary biology with special interests in herpetology and conservation biology. My dissertation research is examining the effects of coastal habitat disturbance on rates of hybridization between two species of watersnake (genus Nerodia), but I also have various side projects involving southeastern herps.

I have also spent time in Trinidad and Tobago working as a field technician on the guppyFIBR project, which is a multi-institution collaborative effort to examine the eco-evolutionary feedback loop between guppies, killifish, and their montane rainforest stream ecosystems.

Through my research and travels, I'm lucky enough to have many opportunities to engage in nature photography, with a special focus on reptile and amphibian photography.

Prints of many of my photos can be purchased through Zenfolio (nclarkii.zenfolio.com/). If you're looking for a photo that's not there, please contact me and I'll add it to my gallery there.
