My name is Ashley, I'm 19 years old.
I am a photographer, a writer/poet, and a runner.

The moment my life changed, the process was almost instantaneous. My Grandfather would hold the Polaroid camera between the both of his hands and snap photographs of our family, or numerous other things that would catch his interest. I remember watching with my adolescent eyes in awe and amazement, as the photograph would develop as it soaked in the air. I didn’t quite understand the process, but the way I visually viewed the world changed in that very moment, and that was when I, Ashley Marie Mellor, knew I was a photographer. The world that surrounds us is influenced by our actions, and then in turn the world influences our lives. Throughout my life I came across work that my Grandfather and Uncle had produced, and viewing that work influenced me into the art that is now an expressive outlet and my life. Two people who were incredibly important brought another important aspect into my world. I have always combined the inspiration from my family members into the inspiration I get from the air that I breathe in. Each seasons holds a different air, which in turn influences a different breath, and a different sight. In my work I involve the general feel of each season and the general feel that I have during that specific time. Everything that happens while I am breathing in this changing air influences the photographs that I produce and make. Photography has always been a place that I could go when I could go nowhere else. Photography has made me less afraid of expressing how I feel and what I was always afraid to admit, even to myself. I have been involving these aspects into my work ever since I began experimenting and developing my own style when I was 14. Since then I have always kept my Grandfather, my Uncle, the changing world, and winds in mind and I hope to continue to do so throughout my entire life as I develop as a photographer.

I have a Canon 7D,
A Canon XT, (my old digital which I shot the majority of my pictures with that are on this stream)
& a Canon Rebel which is my film camera. :)

    I remember three years ago. I had my little Kodak camera that I would use to take pictures of myself and friends. & Then I stumbled across her photography and I was stunned. For being so young, all of her pictures were amazing, stunning, beautiful, incredible; any positive adjective you could think of, could describe her work.

    Ashley inspired me to take up photography, and I am so glad that she did, because it is such a huge part of my life now.

    I love when she uploads and I get to see something new of hers. I love all of her work. She is so creative and original, and she is amazing with LIGHT. She can capture it so well, and I can't say that enough. Her photography has grown so much over the years and I just keep thinking about how much more it is going to grow, even though I can't see how something could get better than what she has now.
