As a kid involved in the Boy Scouts and my church youth group I was always the one bringing the camera, starting with one of the old Kodak pocket instamatics. As a high school graduation present I received a Kodak Tele Ektralite 40 camera. When I got to my first duty station after joining the Air Force, I bought a Pentax ME Super II 35mm SLR camera outfit which I used in Germany and side trips to Holland and France.

In the late 90s I joined the digital revolution with a Canon PowerShot (?) which I was never able to get to work correctly with my computer. A couple of years later I won $1000 from Excite.com and updated my 35mm SLR to the Pentax PZ1-P and tried out an Olympus E10 digital SLR. I wasn't comfortable with the E10, so I returned it and got the Olympus C700UZ point-and-shoot digital camera. At that point I discovered DigitalPhotoContest.com (now defunct) and started participating and trying to improve my photography, moving from just documenting events to shooting with aesthetics and beauty or interest in mind. I could only do so much with the point-and-shoot. I wanted more options so I moved up to the Fuji FinePix 6900 Zoom on which I could use some filters and lens attachments.

I've since retired my Fuji and currently have a Nikon CoolPix L16 point-and-shoot for documenting day trips hither, thither and yon. I got the L16 while on vacation after my CoolPix L3 fell victim to an accident. I also shot with my Pentax PZ-1-P 35mm SLR.

10 FEB 2009 UPDATE

I've entered the digital SLR arena with a Nikon D60 and two VR lenses: 18-55mm AF-S DX and 55-200mm AF-S DX. Just your basic kit lenses.
