Statement
I create in response to my life; life and its emotional reactions are in a permanent state of flux; so too is my work. The simplist way to describe it is that I tell stories. It may be a story of a memory (painted from my imagination); a story of emotion told through self portraiture; or it may be a story of a landscape - where the trees, the hills or the rooftops are doing the speaking. The stories may be direct or more subtle. I hope to be able to communicate with the viewer, that they can relate in some way to my experience and then to make it their own. It is as if we are having a conversation and relating our stories with one and other; but this is being done in silence through imagery and thought.

I paint, draw, print, write and take photographs. My photography I see as an extension of my painting. I wouldn't describe myself as photographer, more of a painter who is also interested in photography. I explore photography with a painters mind.

I am also an arts tutor, offering private tuition and workshops for young people and adults; workshops in health and community settings and schools.
