Introduction - Hmmm?

I'm also fairly old - born 1958 - I used to take a lot of pictures when I was younger. I have a Pentax MX that I inherited after a younger sister who died in 1983 when she was only 22. To sort of honour her memory, I decided to learn how to use the camera. I bought macro lenses and crawled around trying to capture flowers - my favorite motif.
When I married and had children (twin girls - one of them has Morbus Downs syndrome) the camera went into a drawer - and stayed there for 12 years. Small children do not wait for you to measure light and decide on the correct exposure time ;-) I got a small compact camera instead - most of the pictures of my children were taken with this.

Now that my children turned 12 we suddenly had both children away for a couple of hours in the middle if the day, and my husband and I decided to take a walk along a nearby stream. On a sudden impulse I decided to fetch my old Pentax and the macro lenses. My husband watched with eyes bigger and bigger while I crawled around taking pictures of moss and mushrooms.
He was suprised at how well the pictures turned out, when I collected them from the store a week later.
This obviously got him thinking, and in the beginning of August, he disappeared for whole afternoon, and came home with a used Nikon d70s, bag, tripod, and one extra tele/macro-lens. He claimed it was an early birthday present (my birthday is at the end of September) and that I should receive it now while there still was a bit of summer left to document.
Since then he has bitterly regretted this generosity. Now the rest of the family have to wait for me everywhere we go - because I always see something I want to take a picture of. And when we get home I spend hours by the computer unloading the files from the camera, converting them to .jpg and uploading them to Flickr. ;-)
