"I have nothing new to teach the world. Truth and non-violence are as old as the hills."
--- M K Gandhi

Images and visual stories inspire people to act. We can use photography as an effective tool for positive social change and clearly link it to combat climate change, poverty alleviation and the wider Millennium Development Goals. Social Geographic is a non-profit foundation. We exist to support the social campaign to make the world a better place to live.

We are making such material available in our efforts to advance understanding of issues of humanitarian and ecological significance. The images on this website are not necessarily those of survivors of violence and human rights abuse.

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out —
because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out —
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out —
because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out —
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me —
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

"Firoz Ahmad Firoz aka Social Geographic is special to me -- for his honest photos of women and girls and for the cause he represents, a call to act against the everlasting lack of respect toward women the world over in all its guises. It is well that you give us the shocking facts underneath each "Ladli" who looks into your lens."

"I love the images Social Geographic posts. And I love the work they do. Social Geographic serves as a reminder to all of us on Flickr of the best of humanity and of the worst mankind can suffer. The images here are endearing. The stories are heartbreaking. Thank you for showing me your world and letting me be a part of it. Godspeed...!"

Nokwsi says:

"Photography at its most noble form: to help the next disseminating moments of life, dealing with the photographic lens most - too often - disadvantaged human conditions and offering in exchange endless smiles and so much Hope to the Needy. Thanks for what you do, you are teaching all of us a clear and strong message of brotherhood."

Vancouver Wedding Photographer: Ophelia Photograph says:
"Social Geographic's images burn into your soul. She shares a dynamic range of girls and women in various stages of life that evoke powerful emotions. Her raw photography often stops me in my tracks and makes me reflect on my life. She captures their eyes and their spirit and well.....its just stunning. Not to mention her message to the world and conciousness about ending violence and poverty. AMAZING WORK!"
