I bought myself a Canon Powershsot S3 for Christmas 2006; it was my first camera that had settings other than full auto and preset modes. I pushed myself to try them, instead of just taking point and shoot snapshots. I discovered I really enjoyed photography, so in July 2007 I bought my first dSLR...a Canon Rebel XTi and two nice lenses...a Canon 17-40L (instead of the kit lens) and a Canon 70-300 f4-5.6 IS. As is typical of bird photography, you always want more reach, so I eventually found myself in possession of a (used) 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS.

I've also been doing lots of studying and practicing, trying to improve my composition and technique. I've still got a lot to learn, so comments and constructive criticism are always appreciated.

I never seem to have enough time to keep up with what is happening in my groups or with my contacts to the extent I would like to. So, please don't be offended if you invite me to a group and I don't join, or you add me as a contact and I don't reciprocate.
