I come from a rainy little place in Lancashire, England - Rossendale. I have played around with digital cameras for many years, you see my grandad is a fantastic man, he taught me many things about technology and has always selflessly given me cameras to play around with. My other source of interest is due to my dad - he took photography night school as a lad, and has always taken pictures when I have been growing up - he taught me all i know about the technical bits of using a camera.

I moved to Edinburgh in September of 2006, meeting instantly my beautiful girlfriend, Lene. She is from Norway, and we instantly became companions. We had a mutual interest in photography since we met, but neither of us had ever approached it properly, or acted upon it. That changed when in the summer of 2007 i purchased myself a Fuji Finepix s9600. Immediately my love for photography exploded, and started to take over my life!

After going to the Isle of Arran for a week on a field trip, I decided to upgrade my camera. This was only a few months after I had bought it, but my friend wanted to relieve me of it so I could step up the ladder! I purchased a Canon 400d off Ebay, with what I thought was the kit lens. Instead it arrived with a canon ef-s 17-85mm ultrasonic lens - at the time worth on its own just under £400!!! Although I didn’t know it at the time, I began to be told of other people that I was very lucky indeed!!!

After that my kit has grown to a moderate compilation of 'essentials'. My preference is portrait photography, arguably one of the hardest forms - and I love the challenge. My portraits are not professional, the thing I love is how I find that I am constantly learning and getting better at it! (I think). I must say though, I am a team with my girlfriend Lene, she comes up with most of the ideas, makes the subjects comfortable etc, and I bring it to reality with the camera and Photoshop. If it was not for her, I would not be half the photographer I am.

When it comes to Photoshop, I like to think that I am well experienced for a relative armature. I cannot use it like the professionals, but having messed around on it even before my first serious camera, I like to think that I am relatively good at using it to get the effects that I want without them looking clearly photoshopped (unless that’s the effect I’m going for).

So now I am based in the centre of Edinburgh, and run a little 'business' called W&T Photographs. We run it out of our house, and for a half-day photo shoot we charge £35 for copyright of the images on a CD. If you don't like the pictures then no charge. Prints can easily be arranged. We make it fun, cheap and give memories that are worth more than anything. :D
