Cannata's (B&W)

I'm an avid amateur photographer living in Manhattan (though originally from Morgan City, Louisiana by way of New Orleans). A Nikon D3100 is my newest camera of choice - before that I used a Nikon D70s, preceded by a Canon Digital Rebel XT (and, before that, an analog Nikon N65). I use the following lenses with my D3100: Nikkor AF-S 18-70mm 1:3.5-4.5G; Nikkor AF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G; and Nikkor AF 70-300mm 1:4-5.6D.

I also recently purchased a Canon A-1 with a 50mm f/1.8 lens on eBay for $51.02 - I'm looking forward to shooting on film again and broadening my photographic horizons.
I also carry around an iPhone 4 for random, everyday snapshots.

I love taking pictures - capturing a moment in time, documenting life as it zips by, finding the beauty in everyday life. I first became interested in photography when I was about 10 years old - my band director was a photography enthusiast who carried around a 35mm SLR camera (a Canon A-1) with him wherever he went, and he even had his own darkroom. He took the most incredible black and white photos of everyday life - his work as a volunteer firefighter allowed him to get amazing action shots. My mom and dad bought a 35mm Minolta manual focus SLR (an XG1) from the Sears catalog when I was 12 or so, and I spent a good amount of time experimenting with it. It's been 30 or so years since then, but I still get a thrill out of taking photographs.

When I'm not taking pictures, I work as a corporate attorney.
