Hi!

I'm Jonas Thomén and I come from Jakobstad, mid-western Finland (Finland is that place in northern Europe where Nokia phones are from...)

I figured I have to explain myself a little bit... so here we go...

I have been photographing for many years, mostly nature / landscape. I also been studying photography for four years at VNF in Karis, Finland and at the University for the Creative arts in Maidstone, UK. I'm 35 years young and I still don't know what I wanna do when I grow up... I would like to live as a professional nature photographer, me and about three and half billion others... I hope I can work with photography anyway because as of now it is my biggest interest, tightly followed by film and music. I have made music since I was a child on different instruments from recorder to guitar, piano, synthesizer, computer (software).. My band is called Ambient Light and has been around since 1999 (before that I had other names that I rather don't tell because they suck) Video is something I started with about 6 months ago and it's very rewarding to have a time dimension in photography. On my photographic journey I have used large-format, medium-format, 35-mm (slr and compact), aps, and pinhole (film and paper) cameras, and digital (slr and compact) they are all good in their own way even if I favour film over digital in 9 cases out of 10. I have also shot developed and printed (in darkroom and on a computer printer) black and white and colour negative and slide (positive) film.... I've shot everything from landscapes deep in the wilderness to architecture in the city.. portraits to wildlife.. lightning.. the northern lights.. deep space pictures through telescopes.. but if I get to choose one favorite then I take my camera and some lenses and a tripod and whole lot of other stuff and head out to the middle of nowhere (that is when you take left by the old three and then right when you meet the squirrel and go twice as long as where the elk stands)... and do some landscape photography... The reason why I came to flickr was to get some CREATIVE feedback on my work... So if you are watching my pictures don't you dare leave without commenting =)

My icon was shot in Millennium Park, Maidstone, UK. I think this represents the Celtic Horned God. The Hunter, The Protector of the Forest, The male aspect of the Godess... and I like it.. the statue itself is beautiful too... kinda hidden away behind a corner though...
