  Then came an invitation to join a car [directory] group. Cars? I don’t take pictures of cars. But I joined anyway because I thought it polite since he invited me and I was new here.
  
  Then I found out about a car show near me. I thought, Iwatebuddy would like to see that. So I went and took lots of photos and posted them on Flickr. The man who sets up the show found them there and contacted me. I may get to work ahead of time next year with the owners for prepublicity. Look what Bruce got me into.
  
  Next was the Plant [directory]. Now I have shot flowers but this has pushed me to look again, spend more time.
  
  Then a big step, he asked me to help him with two more groups. Now I’m learning just how much time and energy he has devoted to this site. I have a few contacts and groups and I have trouble keeping up. He has many more.
  (Of course, always looking for help and ideas.)
  
  His idea for directories is brilliant and they have grown quickly, so quickly he hasn’t even added the color one to his list. He brings together groups so people can see all the choices they have. When one moves to a new place, it can be very lonely until places are found where one fits in. Then the new place becomes a community here and there where people know your name. Bruce is helping people do that. How special.
  
  I am both humbled and proud to have the privilege of knowing Bruce.
  
  PS: I forgot to mention how much I enjoy seeing his photos. He has a great eye for the interesting."

  "Bruce is an incredible person. He's charming, intelligent, and has an amazing eye for photography. He is always willing to lead, and admins several unique groups. He describes himself as an American in a remote area of Japan, but if you view his photos, you could not tell he is a foreigner to the culture. it is also an advantage for us that he isn't a native, because he can fully appreciate his surroundings while natives may take certain things for granted. His subjects range in a wide variety from cars to temples, but all of them fascinates the viewer. and we are not talking touristy shots. we are talking about photo-blogging life. if there is any guy that all flickr members need to add as a contact, bruce would be it. he is one of the sweetest guys you can ever meet on flickr. =)"
