I get my love of photography from my father, who, in his day some 50 years ago when living in Montana, used his Mamiya TLR to shoot black & white photos worthy of The Master (Ansel Adams)....well, IMHO, anyway. A couple of years after moving to Texas back in late 1997, I purchased my first digital camera: a 2mp HP point-and-shoot from Wal-Mart. I've never looked back to film since (and I can remember when I once remarked "Digital camera?? Who's ever gonna use one of *those* things??")

I currently live in SE Texas, but I'm a Montana girl, born in Columbia Falls, MT, not too far from Glacier National Park. I've lived and gone to school in Kentucky and Louisiana, worked in KY, Seattle WA, MT and ID, and now I live in a small town outside of Houston TX. I'm not exactly enamored of Texas - I'm here more out of necessity rather than choice. I hope someday to move back to either Montana or Washington State, where (again IMHO) the scenery is prettier, the weather better, and the air redolent with the fragrances of sage, juniper, and/ or pine trees.

My first love is landscape photography, but I also enjoy people photography; I'm the staff photographer for the Merchant Prince out at the Texas Renaissance Festival, a sometimes-staff-photographer for a Colombian dance troupe called the Colombian Orchid Ballet. I've done some model shoots, group shots, and as a wedding gift to my nephew and his fiancee, I shot their wedding at Salty's in West Seattle.

I'm a self-taught photographer, constantly learning the craft, and Flickr has helped me immensely. As another Flickr member pointed out, just keep taking lots of pictures. I try to have a camera with me wherever I go - be it my iPhone, my Canon SLR, or the point & shoot I carry in my purse, because I never know what might happen right in front of me, and I want to be prepared.

Flickr has made me realize the sheer number of awesome photographers out there, and has opened up a whole world of photography and photographers to me. THANKS, FLICKR!!!

Hey - PS: Please don't use my photos without my prior permission. Also, nothing drives me crazier than someone who uses my work as their own ; fer cryin' out loud - get up off your butt, get creative, and DO YOUR OWN WORK!

Also, please don't leave your own images as comments on my work. It's bad form - if I want to look at any of your images, I'll do so of my own accord and not because you are advertising for me to make comments about your own stuff.

If you are interested in prints, calendars, coffee mugs, other merchandise, then check out my photo website, which is linked to SmugMug. For QC purposes, I've ordered a number of prints in different sizes and paper formats (Giclee, metallic, luster, glossy, archival metal) and I must say I am totally impressed with the quality.

I also have a blog site now. www.rebeccalatsonphotography.me

I have a Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/rebeccalatsonphotography

I'm also on Google+

It's all about the marketing, you know ;-)

    Ken'sKam says:

"Becky is passionate about her photography. She may have inherited her love of outdoor photography, in particular, from her father and her experience with him in the great outdoors of Montana.

Even though, primarily self taught (as many of us are) she has a considerable knowledge of photographic techniques, digital photo editing and enjoys experimenting.

Although, she loves nature and landscape photography, she is also quite good at people photography, as evidenced by her many photos of festivals, family and friends.

I always value her feedback on my amateurish images and I know her feedback helps me in my effort to become a better photographer."
