For a period of about six years at the turn of the century, I was an avid and prolific photographer, belonging to art groups and hanging in shows, galleries, and indie coffee shops. Then the long grind of having people complement my work while it failed to sell a) made me feel that the complements were just patronizing and condescending, which harshed my mellow, and b) took away the purpose of doing the work, which was to produce something worthwhile for someone to have and enjoy, not to just create for my own benefit and satisfaction.

Now I once again pick up the bat, resin the handle, take a few practice swings with the weight doughnut, and proceed to the batter's box. For no other reason yet but "why the heck not?" New work will appear as I get my groove back, and make something worthy of posting. In the meantime, enjoy the work I'll post from my active period.
