Subjects, style and ethics?
The subject of my photographs tends to vary widely as even the most seemingly mundane of objects can yield interesting and visually pleasing pictures with the right approach.
I love the way in which a scene can be rendered so differently depending on the light and the choice of lens: The dramatic perspective offered by a wide-angle lens and the selective focus achieved through the use of a large aperture are particularly interesting to me as they allow me to produce viewpoints that the human eye is not capable of seeing ordinarily.
Whilst I shoot digital and use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, I am a believer in the more traditional ethic of getting it right in camera and not relying on digital manipulations. Whilst I am not adverse even to heavily-toned shots, I have a particular disdain for the garish HDR images that are all too common these days.
What is photography about to me?
At first it was all about producing images purely for viewing pleasure, the sort of beautiful pictures that you may want as your computer desktop or maybe even hanging on your wall.
Recently I have found that as well as producing aesthetically pleasing pictures, feeling and concept are becoming more important to me as photographer.
I'm still finding my feet and have a long way to go, especially when I compare my images to those of my contacts!

"this guy's style really works for me - there's this special kinda thing, ranging from bokeh to some interesting angles of still life items -
as if the pics & blur effects in his pictures were corresponding with a still life photographer's soul... difficult to explain - the outcome is great
keep it up, man!"27th October, 2009
