EXIF File of Galaxy Note 2

Dennis Braganza says:

I uploaded a picture which was taken using a Samsung Galaxy Note 2. But when I checked the Exif Files, it said it was taken using Galaxy S 2. Is there something wrong? Thanks. God bless.

The EXIF data being displayed on Flickr is coming from the metadata of the images taken by the device / camera, and Flickr doesn't change it on their end. If the incorrect info is being listed, I suspect it might be an issue with your device.

I noticed another issue with the OP's EXIF info, though:

The only way to arrive at his EXIF page is to use the Actions menu. For my own images, I have a "settings" link in the lower right column that I can click on to access the EXIF page. The OP's images do not have that link (that I could find).

NO, it's a Flick bug: EXIF model tag on my pics is GT-N7100, and the wrong name appears only few days ago.
The software tag is OK too.

Can you provide a link to one of your photos that is displaying the wrong EXIF data?

Nope, you're right - this is linked up to the wrong camera model. I've filed a bug against myself, since this would have been me. :)

There's no link to the EXIF on the OP's photopage (other than in the Actions menu).

Is there a reason some photos with EXIF no longer have the right-column link to the meta page?

We show the "Camera settings" header in the right column only if at least one of the relevant fields is provided by the photo's EXIF.

Currently, we show exposure time, ISO, aperture and focal length. In this case, the photo noted above does not have information for any of those EXIF fields.

Looking at the EXIF page, I see that Lightroom was used to export the image. It's likely that the camera is writing out exposure time, ISO, aperture and focal length on the original image it produces, but Lightroom may have stripped that information when exporting the JPEG that was uploaded to Flickr.

So now, for some* images, it is intended behavior to have no link on the photopage to the EXIF/meta page.

(* Any image without exposure time, ISO, aperture and focal length.)

For those images, the user must go to the Actions menu and click "View EXIF" in order to view the EXIF.

... Just trying to get this straight in my head. It seems like it's getting harder and harder to get from the photopage to the EXIF page.

I see this similar -- I do understand that they have a problem by not having the data available -- but why not display something like "N/A" instead of the settings. At least that way user would not have to wonder.....

Like you I wonder about this....

Perhaps that would be better. :-)

I think my problem is that I grew accustomed to the older method of clicking "more properties" in the right column of the photopage. Then Flickr adjusted the method to clicking on the camera name at the top of the right column. It remained that way for a few years, so any image with any EXIF/metadata had a link in the right column that led to the meta page.

For years, some of us requested that some EXIF be displayed on the photopage instead of having to click through to the meta page, thinking it would make it easier ...

Instead, the four settings of EXIF (if available) are now listed "below the fold", and the camera name no longer links to the meta page. So you have to first scroll down the right column to find out whether there's any EXIF. If there is, you can click through from there. If there's not, you have to scroll back up and use the Actions menu to access the meta page.

To me, this seems more difficult than either of the old ways, as I've noted in the official topic.

you are absolutely right.

I've been in software dev for about thirty years now and I think it's a interface design that does not match the requirements of the users...

OF COURSE I know that interface design that suits all users is almost impossible to achieve ;-)
