Got a reply from Flickr, but it doesn't seem to make much sense :-(
Hello Michael,
Thank you for contacting Flickr Customer Care.
I understand that you are concern that you might lose your Flickr pro subscription since you received an email that it is about to expire. Hence, you supposed to have a free pro account since you are a BT Internet subscriber. I apologize for the inconvenience. I am glad to assist you with your concern.
Michael, if you are receiving the message that your pro subscription is about to expire means that you recently purchased Flickr pro or activated a gift of pro. With regard to the free Pro, it was offered directly by your ISP as part of their package. I'm afraid I don't have information on how they informed people of the offer. For information on what they offer or how they communicate, the best thing to do is to contact them directly.
I hope you find this information helpful. As always, your satisfaction is our goal.
Thank you again for contacting us. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reply to this email.
Regards,
Trixie

Yeah, that's usually the case when they first reply. It's computer generated. Sorry, I should have warned you.
Just reply to them and remember to use the reference number they gave you. If you don't, you just get kicked to the back of the queue again. Eventually you will be able to speak to a human.

You mean Trixie is some dumb bit of software written by a spotty geek??

Sounds like it. :-)
(I'd be careful about calling him/her spotty though! (S)he may just take offence :-D)

mikek666 If you're getting free Flickr pro as part of a BT package then you probably need to talk to BT about it.
I gather the way it works is that BT pay for their customers and hold the information, Flickr just flick a switch on their say so.
Be warned though, the BT help was pretty appalling last time used them for this problem ;-(

I'm pretty sure Trixie is a actual person.. When they send automated emails the email will say it is a automated email reply.. Well they used to.

~RidcCully~ -- you're right about it being appalling, in fact a feedback page they provide on their help section simply does not work. I might have to ring the BT technical support number, or even write a letter and post it to them!
Pacdog - Trixie probably is human but I think she may not have any knowledge at all of English and relies 100% on something like Google Translate.

I payed for my Pro subscription back in Sept. now I'm getting requests to pay again. Replied with order # and it failed to be delivered. Am I being hacked?

I'm not sure, but I suggest you post in this thread:
www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us/72157631903811912/
Staff are/were monitoring that thread, so just post a copy of the e-mail you received there (making sure you remove any personal details as this is an open forum).

mikek666 I had the same problem at my last house - in the end ringing tech support worked. The Help desk people just denied that they even had a link with Flickr, despite it being advertised on their website.
One other suggestion is to phone the help desk but ask to speak to a supervisor - they tend to have more knowledge of the products offered by BT.

Well, now I am receiving a message on my screen from Flickr on a daily basis, detailing the number of days that I hve left before my profesional account expires. Today I finally received an email from Bt, with whom I have my broadband connection, and guess what, they say i need to discuss this with Flickr... I've now emailed them both and told them to sort it out by the 13th November at the lates as on that day I will write a letter to Head Office, yes, a traditional letter, sent recorded delivery. So much for the internet....

Writing a letter to the Head Office (whatever that may be) will not sort out your account on flickr.
You need to reply with your case number and follow through with customer care. If you start another help by email case it will just set you further back in the line.

It's futile to continue with emails and other internet related modes of communcaition in relation to this problem with Flickr and also with BtInfinity. Nobody takes any notice and when they do I get nothing of value from them. Head Office for Yahoo and Bt are both in London.

You will get absolutely nowhere with snail mail to the headquarters. Flickr has a methodology in place, you're just choosing not to pursue it.
Good luck.

Flickr has stated that it has nothing to do with them. Where exactly does their methodology lead from that statement?

mikek666: Good luck with wasting ink, paper, an envelope, stamp and time.
Also, in the context of Flickr, 'pro' doesn't stand for professional.

As you have been advised by numerous people in this thread (but are choosing to ignore) you need to follow up with the flickr help case you've started.

As ~Rid©ully~ posted previously, Flickr relies on partners who bundle Pro to tell them an account is eligible. You don't get a free pro from Flickr - BT pay for it on your behalf. If they have stopped telling Flickr that they are going to pay for your account then it will lapse. BT are the ones who need to sort it out for you, assuming your package still qualifies.

mikek666:
If BT doesn't pay for it and then send notice to Flickr, you won't have a Pro account.
It's really up to BT to get things straight on your behalf. Flickr isn't going to give you Pro just because you say you deserve it.
In the past, when I had a problem with ATT bundling Flickr Pro with my ATT account, it took several phone calls to the tech support people at ATT to reset a flag on my account. Once ATT got things straight, my Flickr Pro was automatic.
You may want to have a word with your BT customer service rep. They may no longer provide free Flickr Pro for your level of subscription.

Thanks folks. I'll keep on at Btyahoo broadband. Does seem it's down to them. Plus they are easier to communicate with than Flickr.

Not to be funny here, but it would seem logical that BT Broadband would be easier to communicate with than Flickr in this situation. If Flickr is not at fault and it's up to BT Broadband to do whatever is necessary, what do you expect Flickr to say to you other than: "Please contact BT"?

mikek666 - Your contract is with BT, not flickr.. It’s the same with anything that you buy. If you buy a Hotpoint freezer from Curry’s and it then doesn’t get delivered. You then contact Currys, not Hotpoint ..

mikek666 - If you find that your flickr pro Contract with BT has ended, then if you wish to continue with flickr as a pro account then your will need to pay FlickrYahoo.. You can still do this if your pro account reverts to a free account if your contract with BT ends.. You won’t lose any photos from your account. It will just show 200 photos until you decide to pay…
