cocksure2....."Is there a way for me to reclaim my old account?"
Not if your old account was the only one I could find in a member search using goateecrazy : www.flickr.com/photos/31074916@N00/
It's deleted.......

kingkiang Please stop spamming this forum with your posts. One thread is sufficient. It's rude and bad net etiquette to keep hijacking other people's threads with the same post over and over.

You seriously need to stop making personal attacks in the Forum, before someone reports you...

It's common sense that relying on any online service to store your ONLY copies/originals of anything, is unsafe. I'm sorry it's a discovery to some, instead of a basic understanding. If someone hijacks your account, it's terrible. But it's only one of the many ways an online service could terminate at any time. What if it got bought or sold? Or went bankrupt? What if you lost internet access, or power? The internet is not safe, nor stable. Tough lesson to learn in this way, but there it is.
RubyMae is attempting to explain something about proper forum use. Spamming would be if she copy/pasted it a hundred times.

Probably the most important part of the article is this bit:
Although the password-stealing programs that Mebroot installs can be found by security software, few commercial anti-virus packages currently detect its presence. Mebroot cannot be removed while a computer is running.
Independent security firm GMER has produced a utility that will scan and remove the stealthy program.
Tricky thing.

I have had the same think happen to me today. I was logged in this morning, when I returned to my computer this evening and clicked a link it took me to a password check. ummm ok, but when that cleared it said that it had found another email address, associated with my Yahoo account, that had a flickr account. This is exactly as I want it, because I wanted to have two accounts with different security levels to be sure my main account was complient (not showing naughty pix inappropriately).
It gave me two choices, merge or continue browsing. If I countinued browsing I was not logged in - effectively blocked from entering Flickr. So I gave up and chose to merge. When the merge was complete, I had a brand new account (my old main account completely gone) and not the previous account I had set up for testing either - WITH the FLICKR profile named my Yahoo account, not either one of the names I had created for the two accounts.
There was no warning, no indication that the word "MERGE" did not me "combine two accounts into one account" or even "two access codes combined to one access code". It said MERGE. Had I known the ramifications I would have deleted the testing account.
I would like to point out that Flickr knows the meaning of MERGE when it MERGED with YAHOO several months back. I don't think it meant to 'start over, sorry you misunderstood, and by the way vast sums of money did not change hands..." No, merge meant that the new entity owned and contained ALL of the former entity. hmmmmm
I have written the HELP DESK but have little hope...

Are you certain your old account is completely gone? The only way *you* can do that is to be logged into that account and to select "Delete your Flickr account" on your profile page. In any case, definitely a case for Help by Email!

"when I returned to my computer this evening and clicked a link it took me to a password check."
What sort of link did you click? If it was a link in a comment or forum post, you may have been led to a fake login page, essentially giving your password over to a hacker, who could have deleted your account.

The same thing happened to me on my other flickr pro account.
When I tried to log in I was given an option to start a new account or merge...
My name was " semshine" and when I wrote to flickr for help.
They said that my account was deleted by flickr staff..
They will not tell me why my a pro account with thousands of photos was deleted...
I know I have not done anything wrong...
And I certainly deserve an explanation at least.....
I have back - ups but still 2 years of contacts, comments, sets and photo community is gone and with no explnation...
_
It really feels bad to be treated so badly...
warning to Flickr users there must be someone

If your account was deleted by Flickr staff, I'd guess you violated the Community Guidelines.
While you may not think you did anything wrong, I suspect if you read carefully you'll find something that you thought was a silly rule, or you didn't know was a rule, or you think shouldn't be a rule.
The problem is, you needed to do that reading and follow all the silly stupid rules before your account got deleted.

Fair enough ... But I have read all the community guidelines and I dont think they are silly or stupid. I think they are fair.
I still dont know what rule I violated.

What do you mean by "dox"? "Documents"? If so, they won't be here - only photos were transferred to Flickr...
