Yarr-es. It would be great if there waren't ever any mysteries, and evARRthing always made sense. I'd hate to have to go to GARRgle and do a search for PIRATES or ARR or PIRATE TALK and have to figure it out for meself. Thar would be no fun in that, at all.
Thar be treasure in the strange and weird, thar be. I doubt many would walk the plank for a single day of booty talk.
Return to these shores tomARRow, and we can get back to the serious business of. um. taking pictures.

Well I can't believe the number of people who:
1) Don't realise that this kind of thing is entirely what Flickr is about, or was originally. Sorry if you didn't realise that this was the sort of site you signed up to, but now you do.
2) Don't know that the first place they should look to find out what is going on at Flickr is the Flickr Blog, it's linked from everyone's home page for that very reason.

Pirates? I thought it was an advertisement for a bottle of pesticide. Or one of those "smoking kills" things. Maybe "don't drive drunk". Or even as a warning thingie for high tension electricity poles and transformers.
That's what this symbol shows up in India on, often. It means :do not enter / drink / smoke / whatever".
And for some reason over the years it also symbolises the whole thing about Colonialism as related to Nazis.

i loved the quality photographs in "interstingness" but now all i find is half-rate pirate shots no matter where i go... i agree with many that this would have been fun if only for a day, but the fact that it doesn't seem to stop suggests that you guys (at flickr) have been hacked or just need to lay off the rum

In this part of the world the pirate flag means "highly toxic, poisonous matter". Symbol is used to label heavy poisons and it is in every day use.

Wow.
The Flickr team is fantastic and continues to prove that they are humans who like to have fun.
Everyone here complaining about something you didn't take time to understand are the reason why people move away from great sites like this. Not because Flickr has a sense of humor.
Enjoy that this is not a soul-less, cubicle farm of a team and that there is a community of people who enjoy using the internet still.

BigBean yeah, me too... So the arr! universe has disappeared with its very amusing forum all speaking arr! It was like a little haven on the web where no one had anything nasty to say and even spam was treated with humour. I said thank you at the arr! forum but here's a thank you here flickr staff. Very very funny indeed. The Pirate's Code was hilarious!

The arr! forum had me rofl. A couple of problems got posted and answered in arr!ish - it was just sweet and rather innocent fun and no one was grumbling or being nasty or tiresome. I have enough of grumbling, nasty and tiresome at the university!! I don't need to come to flickr to see egos clanking together - I assure you when it comes to clanking egos academics can outdo any of you :-<
