[closed] New Payment Options

Dancing Deer Photography says:

Ok I see Flickr has done away with pay pal, I checked the new payment options, all credit cards,,, grrrrr. For those like me with no credit card how are we going to pay now?, I have plenty of time till my pro account expires, but I don't want to leave renewing to the last min, maybe later this summer. Does Flickr plan to give us non credit card holders a option, or are we going to be forced not to renew?

Letter to those who have posted in this thread:

I am staying with Flickr, as for the paypal thing I am going to buy one of those pre-paid credit card and use that, getting mad and deleteing your account is really not gonna do anything but hurt you as a member, that is like a child tossing a temper tantrum, your really not gonna teach anyone a lesson by doing this exspecialy if your a "free" account holder" there is thousands of new "free" accounts right behind you to fill your space, and deleteing a paid account is doing nothing but screwing your self out of money. As for the people in other countrys, you will have to wait for Flickr to give you a new option, it will come, just be patient, you might have to "deal" with downgrading to a free acount temparly, no big deal I am sure Flickr has heard us all in this issue, they are not out to screw thousands of paying customers, nor ruin it for the free accounts. They will fix this I am sure, its a business and its bad business to discriminate against those who don't have a credit cards, they know this. Be patient, Flickr will fix this.

Current Update 11/21/07: PayPal is back!

-----

Previous Updates:

11/19/07: A quick update about the return of PayPal<

8/30/07: PayPal will return to on November 20, 2007.
More information is available here.

1) PayPal is coming back. The current failure rate is unnacceptable and we're working to iron the bugs out. Bugs being what they are, it's not like we can set a date and be done with it, but the team appreciates that PayPal is an important payment option for many.

2) We will be adding additional payment options in the future and are always looking at how we can make things easier for Flickr members around the globe. Given that this change is less than 6 hours old, your patience is appreciated :)

To be on the sure side, I'd recommend non-US users to wait till thursday, rather than looking feverishly to a stock clocks-wall (at last that's what I'm saying to people in the Spanish forum :-)

Well it's not working for me! My paypal is set up via my ordinary bank account here in Australia. No matter what I try, even when I try to pay via paypal it's asking me for a credit card number; I don't have a credit card and I never did.

Am I missing something? Why can't I just pay with my email addy like I pay when I buy something from ebay? Why do i need all this credit card stuff, isn't that why we have paypal, so we don't need to have/use them? D:

Have you tried the "Change Funding Source" bit, telling it to take the money from your PayPal account?

Dr.Keats- I don't see the funding source option anywhere. I see where it tells me to either enter a credit card details or pay via paypal, but when i click via paypal i get 'please add a card to continue purchasing.' >_<

Given that the main driver of this topic has been the lack of PayPal (which has been resolved), I'm going to close this topic.

If you have feedback or issues with PayPal, I've started a new topic over here.

I'd like to thank everyone for their patience throughout this inbetwixt and inbetween time.
