You can't hide your favorites. As far as I know, Flickr can't do it for you either.

-i know that we cannot manually toggle "hide favorites."
-rosie o'donnell's account has her favorites hidden, so it is possible.
-this is obviously something that has to be done on an case-by-case basis, which is why i'm looking for someone from flickr to address this* or point me in the right direction.
*in the past, my help threads got me a fairly prompt response from a flickr rep, which means to me that this is something of a delicate topic for the flickr people -- either they do not want to allow people this ability in general with some simple coding, or they do not want to spend time manually entering in individual permissions for all the people who might want this function.

I think they hid Rosie's profile in order to discourage stalkers. It's not something they do lightly.

You would likely need your own defunct talkshow or possibly a film on a similar level as "Stakeout 2" to rate your own favorite-privacy allowance.
Or, easier for all, just don't favorite stuff you don't want other people to see.

Another common approach is to use a second account that's not obviously connected to the main one for the faves you want to hide, or alternatively, simply stop faving things and use bookmarks instead.
Is there a particular reason that you want to do this?

, being a young woman, i get some indecent/unsettling offers, so i'm not sure why rosie gets this protection but not the rest of us upon request. (why not make it a simple button you can toggle?)
, lol about 'stakeout 2'. as for simply not faving stuff that i want to keep from public view, i still contend that a person's favorites are part of their sphere of privacy and should be handled like their real name, or email address or personal photos (which can be hidden from public view). to forego selecting my actual favorites for the sake of privacy/safety is kind of like that old joke which starts "doctor, my arm hurts when i go like this," to which the doctor replies "then don't go like that." i know what you're saying, though.
, thanks for the suggestions. i just simply don't want the general public to see the pictures that i have faved. besides the simple reason that there is no reason why i can hide more mundane aspects of my account and not favorites, i occasionally receive creep-mail/posts which i suspect are somewhat encouraged by my favorites. people see lots of nude young females and other things among my faved images, and get the wrong impression. as a woman, i view (well done) photographs of the human body as art - and my faving them is an exploration of that art, not an invitation to creep me out with offers to shoot me nude or meet sometime.
thanks you all for the comments, and happy holidays =)
still no word from flickr help people after 4 weeks, by the way. if flickr continues to ignore this topic, or fails to offer me (and other young women for that matter) this small, simple level of protection, there are many other photo-sharing options out there which i will consider.

Hello Dörnveek Märkkstyrn,
Sorry, as this is largely a user-to-user support Forum, and your question has been answered correctly by users, we weren't aware that you were looking for a staff answer.
You cannot hide your favorites, as that is part of the photo sharing ethos of Flickr.
In general, we also do not hide the profiles of users entirely. You can hide your profile from username and email searches, however, by going into your account settings here:
www.flickr.com/account/prefs/optout/?from=privacy
If you have any further feature requests, you're welcome to post them up to Flickr Ideas.

" i still contend that a person's favorites are part of their sphere of privacy"
You can contend that, but that doesn't make it correct. Flickr's favorites are part of their larger sharing concept, and a way for users to explore the site by using images that other people find interesting to further wander around the depths of Flickr. Since you're using the images of others, it falls under the purvew of the site and its design. None of your other privacy examples involve content created by others. You have the right to protect your own name and address and email and personal photos, but not the display of content you didn't create.
Basically, I'm the one who tells Flickr what they can and can't do with my photos. And I've told them to display them as favorites (I'd block people, or make my photos private, to prevent this.) So in this case, it really isn't your call. If I can't see your favorites, then I can't decide if I want you to have my photos in them. Collecting images in secret circumvents the user's control over their images, basically.
If you want to keep track of images privately, then you have other methods available (personal bookmarks, a second anonymous Flickr account, etc) that don't break the intended design of the site.
