Hmm, I fear someone in the Yahoo marketing department has been a little over-enthusiastic.

This Yahoo Messenger 9.0 promotion video says that you can upload your friends shared-on-Messenger photos to your Flickr account. It's about halfway through. Maybe someone needs to go bang on someone else's door?
My eyebrows have met my hairline. I'll have a poke around and see what's what. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

My eyebrows have met my hairline.
Were I American, I'd make some joke about that being terribly common in Canada.

I think that this is belated retaliation for my small island off the coast of France comment, isn't it?

What is really Special is when you right click on the image and choose, "Save to Flickr" it actually brings up a pop up menu that reads, "Flickr Photo saver"
How are your eyebrows doing Heather?
I did a screen cap of the process if anyone is interested.

The words that spring to mind "Arse" and "Both hands" - directed at Yahoo, not the poor buggers at Flickr.
For the Flickr folk, an Ass is the thing that Jesus rode on not something you sit on. Canuks and Yanks - niether can spell ;oP

~Rid©ully~ We Yanks tend to not use arse. I never used arse until I lived with the Scots. I also learned that the Yank expression, "smooth as a babies fanny" will get you lights punched out in Glasgow.
But I digress.

As long as Flickr is getting deeper in bed with Yahell with fancy new purple logos and new yahell rollouts, I would suggest they also help fix the Yahell blog promoting the use of TOS violations.

I'm guessing that this is a part of the re-branding of flickr, and one of the exciting new features we'll see rolled at next week. It's probably not a mistake (although, perhaps news to the folks at flickr). In other words, I bet we're going to see a re-working of the CG and TOS in the near future.

While you’re adding photos, your friend can add their own to the window from their Flickr account, or from their hard drive. Next thing you know, you’ve got a bunch of photos to look at (and discuss!). One last tip – if you want to save any of the photos your friend shares with you, click the “Save” button in the photo panel to save them to your own Flickr account or to your computer.

- I'm sure words will be had. It does seem as though it's a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing though.

Yahoo is bigger. Whichever hand it is, it will be the one that prevails.
The branding that is being rolled out, while ugly, is nowhere near as ugly as these TOS discrepancies.

That blog post was made on May 23,2008. Yes, 16 months ago. Makes you wonder how many Flick users have been "chastised" for following Yahoo!'s advice.

I think Burnt Umber raised it previously...
I don't use Yahoo but to sporadically check my e-mail account (it's not my primary account - it's almost all spam) and flickr, so a post in the blog, or on messenger would definitely be unnoticed.

Interesting that this has taken more than a year to get the attention of someone who finds this distressing. Oh well, sounds like most Yahoo Messenger users don't know about this.
Someone in creative got too creative and someone in management didn't bother to check with Flickr about it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - this is exactly the kind of megacorporate nonsense that makes me remember why I decided against renewing my pro account this year.

Zack Sheppard All the credit goes to MT501 He was the one who first saw the video and caught the blog post over at AFM. I was just moving it over to get some attention on the matter.
It is too late to fix V9.0 but they are Beta testing V10.0.
This cab get fixed before they release it.
I knew this was an option for a while but saw that Yahoo hat cut back on personal chat services to such a degree that not many people are using Ychat anymore and even less are using Ychat with Flickr as a combination.
Either way, the text and video need to get fixed.
