[Closed] Is my account going to get deleted? And why does Flickr not warn before deleting?
|
|
So with all the recent happenings on account deletions (and people being banned from the help forum for questionable reasons), I have some fear of losing all my stuff over the 'using Flickr for commercial uses' part of the TOS. I shoot my boyfriend's band, and they use the images I shoot for their website by linking back to my Flickr (so I get exposure and it doesn't bog down their site.) I would never even think of asking this, but I would be hella pissed if lost everything over something like this. Should I move my stuff?
My second question is a direct query to the Flickr staff, I am just wondering why you would not warn at least a pro account holder before deleting all their work. I have spent sometime today looking for a Flickr Staff member to answer that exact question (and I have found it asked a plethora of times) but it never seems to be directly answered.
(And no, this isn't the account that I use, but I didn't want to put my account in jeopardy by asking this)

Mississippi Snopes Let's see - does calling someone "dumb," "argumentative," "smell[ing] of trolling shit," "simply repetitive," or smacking of someone "sending his sycophants here to make mischief" sound like a civil response?
In the circumstances yes.

1. links and salesy verbiage beneath individual photos is a no no. Sets of stuff "for sale" or "sold" is also a no no. You may include a link in your profile to your etsy store, etc.
i wonder if you searched a little would any of the above people be breaking a few rules,i wonder

Again I will leave my question at the bottom of this thread in hopes that the flickr staff who looks at this might answer the question that everyone here has speculated at. I am not looking to be called names, nor am I looking for the same people to make the same statements over and over. I get that you believe that Flickr does not have a definition for Commercial Sites. Until I hear back from an actual staff member, or someone can link me somewhere a FLICKR STAFF states that there is no definition of commercial site. Please do not attack me for asking, and if all you have is to add is the same things, then that is your choice, and I would really appreciate not being called names for using the Flickr sanctioned Help Forum to seek an answer to my query.
HOW DOES FLICKR DEFINE COMMERCIAL SITE?

> HOW DOES FLICKR DEFINE COMMERCIAL SITE?
Does flickr use the phrase commercial site?
Don’t use Flickr for commercial purposes.
Flickr is for personal use only. If we find you selling products, services, or yourself through your photostream, we will terminate your account. Any other commercial use of Flickr, Flickr technologies (including APIs, FlickrMail, etc), or Flickr accounts must be approved by Flickr.
> Until I hear back from an actual staff member
You're not going to hear from one here. If flickr doesn't define "commercial site," what's your plan?

Interesting how much easier it is to attack the arguer than the argument.
"If you don't like it, bugger off" is a bull shit response. How would you Flickr sycophants like it if you bank simply deleted your Bank account because they were suspicious you engaged in money laundering?
In any commercial endeavor where someone pays for services and invest time and energy into a service provider, there are recognized standards of due care before a provider takes a capricious action.
Yet you all seem to want to defend your dear old Flickr management for behavior you would picket in the streets about if a traditional service provider behaved this way.
Capriciously deleting accounts without warning or clear standards is outrageous behavior. It's simply unjustifiable, and eventually Flickr and Yahoo are going to find themselves in a deep can of shit over it.
