Hi Heather and all..
My PRO account expired about a week ago and I've been trying to renew it, but it seems that I can't do it without paypal. Is there a way to have the PRO account extended until paypal comes back again?

While I now have access to a credit card that works for Flickr, I'd prefer not to use it as I get screwed for international transfer options and currency exchange.
Is Paypal actually due in the next couple of weeks?
If so, can you extend my membership to cover the time until Paypal arrives? I'd appreciate this, as it will save me $10 in transfers!

I have roughly the same problem...I don't do credit cards, but will be getting one in December due to my business,...the problem is my pro account ends on Nov 7th...I can quell out a lot of shots, but not sure I can bring it back down to 200...Is there anyway to just get an extention until Mid December?

I mrfish2211 would also like to upgrade.i have sent U.S.funds via the mail for classmates .com and received verification from them within a few days, as there policy was basically the same,will you take a certified money order payable in U.S. funds? ,is this possible with flickr and if so how do i go about it. i also don't believe in upgrading with out first paying for a pro account because i must hold myself accountable for the choices which come before me daily,,,,,please adress this issue asap and email my account with the means to facilitate this request,,,,,sincerly mrfish2211

mrfish2211, I'm sorry, but we don't currently have an offline payment option (like money orders or personal checks). I've gifted you a month of pro. When PayPal returns, you can determine if you're comfortable with this online payment method.

And then, no yahoo wallet on the payment options. Grr

I am so frustrated and panicing. Some help PLEASE. I just check my flickr account yesterday. and there it said, ur trial period has been expired. I dint have a clue tht i was on trial period. well its fine. It said for free users., limitations apply. and the limit is, we can keep only 3 sets and it displays only 200 recent pic. as per the limitations its showing only 3sets and recent pic. I had more than 3sets and more than 200 pic in my account. Now it said...if i want to retrieve my other sets n pic. i have delete some. so i did. still its not retriving my other sets and pic. HELP PLEASE. i dont have back up of those pic also. just like tht my pic cant be taken away. i need those. u can email me........i really want to talk abt this if i can get some customer care number. my email id is scorpio_rashmi@yahoo.com .

Hi, I cannot get the sytem to recognise my card which is Visa Electron, it seems to be a common problem with online payments from here in Russia.

I find I cannot pay to upgrade to a pro account by Visa from the UK although the payment options say I can.
Is this a temporary glitch? I would have thought that a large organisation such as Yahoo could cope with this.

UGH!!!!
I hope the same thing has not happened to me that happened to the person above, I have been trying to upgrade and I always got the Error (4). So now I'm worried I am going to have many charges on my credit card and still I don't have a Pro account >_<!!!!

Hey guys...I have been asking Flickr some month ago (June or July don´t remember) if it´s ok that I pay via paypal for my pro account. I recieved a "it´s ok...just go to the paypalsite and send it!"
That´s what I did though...and guess what...till now they say that they didn´t recieve it o_O
Paypal told me that they did...so what shall I believe now?
As it is already too long ago..even paypal wont return my money...that´s really frustrating
If there wouldn´t have been a friendly Flickie who gave me an extension as gift my account would be gone......now tell me is that fair?.

My account's expired & I've got the same problem a lot of people here have - no paypal! It's very very bad to only give the payment option of credit cards (I don't agree with them at all - a quick way to high-interest debt). The problem is, I'm an artist & I use Flickr as a reference to point people toward for potential jobs. I'm losing work!
Still, I'm glad I found this thread!
I'll be renewing my subscription the *moment* the paypal option is available - would it be possible to do a temporary extendy until then?

PS. I'd like to just double check - the pictures that disappear when your pro account goes down do stay on flickr & pop back up when you have a pro back, don't they? I had my last laptop stolen, and some of my pictures that were on there only exist on flickr now...should have thought of that when my account was running out.

I recently joined and Heather kindly extended my Pro account to 10th December as I cannot pay until PayPal is back. Dont have credit cards.
Also I want to buy an upgrade for a friend who has a free account here. My friend is in a country where it is almost impossible to organise payment. He need the extra room for his pictures

I was having problems paying for a pro account by Visa but this was due to the card being compromised (I believe staff in a local petrol station were getting card details - someone had made a cash withdrawal using my details from a cash machine in Bangkok).
The new card has worked fine so apologies to Flickr as I wondered whether there were problems generally. I now look forward to using my pro acount.

Leviathan/Steven, your efforts in Yahoo! Wallet were not for naught. It is not required that you set this up before but because you have, when PayPal is enabled in the Flickr checkout the info you entered will already be there and you will be all set to go! :)
interpolgroupieswearblack, I'm not sure exactly what page you are seeing this on, can you give more info?
sorrownbliss & deekudk, if you are still getting this error you should probably send an email to billing. They will have more specific info on what is causing that than I do since they have specific billing tools. You can contact them using Help by Email at the bottom of this page and choosing "I am having a problem with a payment for Flickr pro"
/ me_bellybutton & paveries, our old PayPal account is closed. If you have tried to send a payment to paypal@flickr.com there is no account for it to go to. Your payment should still be pending in the PayPal system. Unfortunately you will need to contact them to find out more about the attempted payment.
M-u-z, from looking at the date your pro ends it looks like you should be ok until you return from your trip.
SaraAmberOZ, when the 10th of Dec comes around you will be able to renew your pro account and buy your friend an account using PayPal. :)

I have only got "Maestro" creditcard, so I can´t buy any pro account directly from flickr. And after a quick look over at Paypal, it seems that I can´t place money there without "right" creditcard.
So, what should I do to get a pro account?
Is it possible to pay directly from my bank?

ZuqR, I think the PayPal funding options are different for different countries. You would need to login to their site or ask PayPal help what options they could give you. As for us, we do not currently accept Maestro directly. We are aware that some members would like to pay using this but as of this moment there are no plans to add it. I will pass your feedback along though.

Oh well, my account expires on the 17th of this month, and as I don't have a credit card, I can't renew my pro account..
So, would it be possible to extend my account for one month? That would give me time to pay it with paypal, also one month would guarantee that I'd get on computer in time (I'm in the army right now, and using computer daily isn't possible).

Ah good, I see that Paypal should be coming back. Nothing irritates me more than fussing with card details.
However, I've paid by card and never received an email confirmation. I assume the payment has gone through since the expiry notice has disappeared from the home page.

I'm not a credit card holder. Can I use someone else's card by billing to his/her name instead of mine? This is with their consent of course.

I'm another impending Pro upgrader waiting on PayPal to be put back in place. Like lady_elsinore, I saw the bit in the TOS about Account Updater and balked at having to agree to 1. Yahoo giving out my financial data, and 2. me apparently agreeing to let my credit card issuer give out my financial data to anyone who asks for it. I actually was about to upgrade when I read that, so I googled it, which led me back to this post and news on the PayPal option.
So, my best recourse is to go the PayPal route (I don't recall them including that "We're gonna give your information out, so if you cancel your credit card, we can keep billing you anyway OK?" stipulation) so Yahoo doesn't get my CC info, and hold off on uploading the rest of my photos to my account until the PayPal payment option is in place... unless you'd like to start my pro account early, which would be swell!

I just got that msg in my Flickr account. When I clicked on "renew", I only see the option to pay via credit card. Why is there no Paypal payment option? I would hate to have images deleted because of that. I could also - apart from Paypal - use bank wire, if only Flickr would provide their acct. details (i.e. BIC and IBAN numbers).
Anything that can be done about it? Is there a definite set date for the re-inclusion of PP?

The two days between when Paypal is supposed to be re-instated, and November 22 most of us had our account extended to is starting to make me nervous! I see that warning at the top of my Flickr page, and I wonder if all will work right from day 1. And if it doesn't, customer service will never get back to me in that short a period of time.
Lets hope Flickr gets it right!

We've been testing for the last couple of weeks, hammering out the bugs and smoothing over translation issues. When I left on Friday, 11/20 was still the intended launch date. In any event, I've gifted everyone an additional month for stress relief.

I had a very frustrating time with Yahoo Customer Care trying to answer a simple question: why can't people from Brazil have Y! Wallet?
We don't have that option at all. I went to Y! Wallet and added Paypal as a funds option to it, thinking my problems would be solved, but when I try to pay Flickr, Wallet is just not there.
Call me paranoid, but I bet tomorrow the rest of the world will have Paypal with bank accounts working fine through Y! Wallet and the poor souls who dared to register their accounts on yahoo.com.br will be stuck with that half-assed "Pagador" solution that honestly looks like phishing.

Each country has stringent banking/money regulations and for Brazil, that means a separate payment solution -- Braspag.

That's because we were US only and all members whatever their locations were under US law. Post international launch, we're "localized" in certain countries and therefore must abide by their local laws. In the instances of Brazil, that would include payment methods.

I wanted to provide an update to all those awaiting the return of PayPal scheduled for 11/20:
We've confirmed that PayPal will be rolled out into Wallet beginning at 11pm Pacific tomorrow night 11/20 and the rollout should be complete by 1:30am Pacific Wednesday morning 11/21 (when we announced back in August the 11/20 date, I wasn't aware of the deploy cycle).
This means that PayPal will be available in wallet in the wee hours of Wednesday morning though there may not be a PayPal logo visible on the Flickr until later that morning. We've been gifting people beyond 11/20 so this shouldn't be an issue.
We've also confirmed that PayPal will work for Give the Gift of Flickr.

my point was I _don't_ want to use yahoo wallet at all.
I don't want yahoo storing payment information of any kind. So how does rolling out paypal in wallet help? Besides it was an option in wallet before and didn't work properly then.

I don't want yahoo storing payment information of any kind.
If you use PayPal, then it isn't storing your payment info. When you select PayPal as an option, it takes you out to PayPal to do the transaction (like our previous implementation) and then brings you back.
Besides it was an option in wallet before and didn't work properly then.
That's why we didn't roll out PayPal as a wallet feature in June -- too buggy.
