[locked, duplicate] Change your Personalized Flickr URL

OnePixelSolid OLD says:

PROBLEM

You can't change your personalized url once you choose it (http://www.flickr.com/help/account/#170). :(

This is one annoying policy. It's bound to happen, that awesome url you chose one day isn't as appealing a year or so later.

It is a c o m m o n problem.

SOLUTION (proposed)

Where there's a will there's a way. Since the flickr team don't have an easy solution, I thought I'd make one...

The idea A website that allows you to transfer your photos from one account to another, while keeping all your meta data eg: comments, upload dates, sets, titles.

The downside of doing it this way, is you will need to sign up for a new account, and if you're a pro user you'll need to pay again. I'd personally pay my subscription fee again to have my url changed (sounds crazy but that's me).

I want to know if there are others out there that are one the same boat and would use this service?

The project hasn't started yet, as I'm trying to see if there are enough people interested. So if you are, let me know and I'll make it happen.

It's the same, I just wanted to start a proper thread for it. I've linked to this thread from that comment to save confusion.

cheers.

I'd love for this project to happen, and would even consider donating a small amount to the cause. Then again, I'd also pay Flickr to change my URL, much like Livejournal charges for their renaming tokens.

How could you transfer the comments? They're not the "property" of the account you're transferring, are they?

I thought you could already do all this. Open a new account, give it a personalised URL, merge old account with new.

Given that there's an existing open topic, I'm going to lock lock this puppy down and direct any further conversation to happen there:
