I am trying to remove photos from one of my sets in Organize, but, when I click on the set, instead of it opening, that idiotic message about too many tabs appears.
In addition, when I try to create a new set, that same message appears.
Very frustrating!

@ Jim:
Understood. Now, when I open one of my sets (not through Organize), the other sets are not at the bottom any more, as they used to be. Very strange!
Do you think this is caused by the new Collections feature?
In any event, with all these members complaining about Organize, you'd think one of the staff would have said something. Oh well......

I've been having the same problem for some time now. The only message I get is "loading..." with the pink 'n' blue balls. I tried reloading, rebooting, allowing popup thingy, ctrlF5... nothing works. I wonder if I ever get to know what the new "collections" feature is??
@The Spouter Inn - it's the new layout. The other sets appear when you click "sets" (in small letters) somewhere up left...

@ Kym:
So, now when you open a set from the sets alongside on the right of the YOUR PHOTOS page, or when you scroll down to YOUR SETS from YOU at the top, you only get the one set, unless you click on the small 'Sets', which takes you back to all the sets again. There's no option anymore to open another set directly from that page. Do you really like that?

hi, Spouter,
i guess they should separate collections from sets ....
it's a bigggggggggg confusion !!!
i neither can try and see what it's a collection ooopppssssss
anyway, if you want to delete photos from sets, you can go to each photo and remove manualy, without enter in the set, where it says add you take it out .....

and we can move the sets in organizer if we want to change them

@The Spouter Inn - about the sets links: well, in the old layout, there were only 3 (or 4? I don't remember... :\) of the other sets were displayed on a set page and I had often to go back to all the sets anyway. So, it's not such a big change, I think. But I really don't like that the organize-feature is not working (I mean, I can't access to it).
@Luisa - but the issue here is that we can't access to the organizer...

@ Kym:
No, no. In the old layout (the one that worked), when a set was opened, all the other sets were in their thumbnail version at the bottom. You could simply click on any of them, and it would directly open. Now, we have to go back to all the sets.
Yet, the short and long of it is, that the damnable Organizr doesn't work. Sets simply weren't good enough.

I'm having the same problem as Kym. and J_H_WY. When I try to open Organizer it wants to load forever. I can read the page source. My browser is getting information. It is just not displaying anything. I started this thread, www.flickr.com/forums/bugs/34665/ but staff hasn't done anything. I sent an email to support which was "escalated" and that was the last I heard. I didn't change anything in my browser and no variety of browser works. I wonder if some software was automatically updated over the web and that broke something. Javascript is on. I've cleared my cookies, cache etc.

I'm still getting the "eternal loading" problem on my computer at home. Yet, I was able to use Oragnaize, as usual, from my computer at work.
Both machines are running Win2000, and both using FireFox (although IE does the same thing to me here at home).
But this all worked fine a few weeks ago. Now there's something in the initial "organize" page source which must be causing this. If I could figure out what's different about the setup of my PC here at home versus my machine at work, that'd be a big clue to solving this.
As it is, my computer here (at home) downloads a LOT of stuff for that initial "organize" page, but it never displays anything but that first "moving balls, loading" GIF.
I can right click on the blank page and select "view page source" and see that a bunch of stuff did download. But it's as if there's a glitch in the code that simply prevents the page from displaying. Instead, that initial "loading" stuff just stays up forever.
I'd be nice if a member of the Flickr staff would at least acknowledge this thread.
Not being able to do any organizing is more than just a small inconvenience.

I've been trying for days to organize a set by views and I get the same message "too many Organizer tabs open" even though I don't have anything open other than working directly from the "You" page and clicking on the "edit" option of the set I want to edit.
I also noticed this problem began with the addition of the Collections option....I'm very upset and frustrated!!

I am still having problems with the Organizer area of my Flickr site. I have tried to get into that Organize page to get my latest pictures put in the right area and the Organizer just sits "loading" for hours with those stupid pink & blue balls moving back & forth and I even let it go as long as 1 hour to see if it would load up and does not load at all. It's a waste of time having something that does not work. Are they going to get this fixed? I have been having problems with Organizer for the past 4 days now. I could take all of my pictures and put them on another site, if there is anything out there like Flickr. I wonder if the recent changes made on Flickr messed up something with the Organizer area of their site??

If you would post a traceroute from the computer you use to here, we can see if there is some blockage someplace along the road.
In windows
start->run->type cmd
in the cmd window
type
tracert www.flickr.com
copy and paste that
tracert farm1.static.flickr.com
copy and paste that
tracert adserver.yahoo.com
copy and paste that
tracert geo.yahoo.com
copy and paste that

starikarp, I've been meaning to install konqueror and iron out the kinks it has, but it is hard to justify the time, as so few people use that browser :/ It's still on my list of things to do, but you should at least be able to install Firefox and get it to work.
Kym, you should look under "errors", not "warnings". And the thing to do is hit the "clear" button first, then load organizr. Then any errors reported there will related to organizr. Thanks!

Kym, I am at a total loss as to why this is not working for you. Do you have any Firefox extensions installed that you can disable and test organizr again? Have you made any special tweaks to Firefox's configs or preferences? Sorry I can't be more help, but your situation does not make any sense to me :/
luisa brehm, your tab problem should be fixed now, assuming your screen resolution is at least 800 pixels wide, and you open up your browser window as wide as it will go. Cheers!

Ok I can't get into Organizr again today. Those spinning balls are mocking me.
I didn't change any Firefox extensions, kept NIS03 Ad Blocker running etc, but no luck today for some reason. I changed from Old Skool to Yahoo member last night but that shouldn't have anything to do with it as I had the problem before conversion.
Just did the FF Error Console. Like Kym, the only stuff I got were Warnings not Errors. 10 warnings total, mostly to do with the css.

I haven't been able to get into it either for about a week and am starting to get proper irate about it.
I'm using IE, XP so not the same as yourself janissary. It seems unlikely that one day it works for me and then one day it doesn't when I haven't changed a single setting. And that I'm not the only person having this problem makes it seem even less likely that it's a problem of my own making. *cries into keyboard*

michl_007, its not a problem of your making, in all likelihood. But its also not a problem that we can reproduce at all, with any supported browser. Which makes it hard to diagnose and fix :/

Hi Eric, Thanks for your responses in this thread, and my sympathies for the frustration that this problem must be causing you, as well as for us "spinning dotters". Like michl_007, I am using IE (version 7.0.5730.11) with Windows XP.
Clearing my browser cache did not help. I booted up in safe mode to see if Organizr worked then, and it still didn't. I just tried the traceroute that dathan asked for up above. It will not let me copy and paste out of the cmd window, but I get the same results from all four traceroutes that he asks for:
www.flickr.vip.mud.yahoo.com [68.142.214.24]
farm1.static.flickr.yahoo8.akadns.net [68.142.213.135]
adserver.yahoo2.akadns.net [209.73.171.102]
b1.data.yahoo7.akadns.net [66.218.77.72]
all come up with the response:
1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms home [192.168.1.254]
2 37 ms 39 ms 39 ms 10.196.56.1
3 208.181.242.2 reports: Destination net unreachable.
I hope this is the info you need, and that it helps.

I've made it so that after a +- 30 second wait for the organizr to load, you should be presented with the option to "kick start" the organizr.
For those of you that have been unable to get past the spinning dots, I would be very interested in reports of the following:
1) Do you see the "kick start" link after waiting a while?
2) When you click it, does the organizr finish loading?
3) If the organizr loads, does it all seem to work properly (especially the map tab)?
Thanks for all your help and patience!

Eric, thanks.
1) - no, I don't get "kick start".
Firefox stops loading in a few seconds as it "considers" it's done (that's what I think, anyway). But what Firefox has loaded is the "loading" dots... so it seems.

Again, I am at a loss Kym. You see no errors reported in the error console, you can load all the offsite files, and Firefox tells you it is done loading, just never gets past the spinning dots. Makes no sense.
What kind of network are you on? Home or work? DSL? Cable? Can you load the Organizr from a different computer on the same network? What about on a different network?
Thanks!

Just chimining in that for what it's worth, I've been having the same exact problems as Kym since Flickr announced the "collections" changes to the Organizer. I can't load it, just get the spinning balls. Have already tried all suggestions and then some: cleared cache and cookies, turned off all extentions, firewalls, etc... no dice, just the spinning balls. If I let it run for more than 30 seconds I do not get the kick start screen, Firefox just thinks the back is done loading (but the spinning balls keeps doing their thing).
When I click those links provided above I get the same exact error messages as Kim as well. Considering that this is effecting so many people and happened for everyone at the same time (there are a number of other threads about this being posted), I kind of doubt that it's just a matter of our own personal Firefox or system configurations. Somehow somewhere there's an error or incompatibility that was introduced with the latest Organizer changes that are preventing many of us from getting into it at all.

Medusa Oblongata, no one has suggested that every user reporting the problem has configuration problems. It seems to be a network related, and we're still working on tracking it down.
To be clear, there are actually very few people reporting the problem. Which is NOT to say we don't take it seriously; look, here I am trying to figure it out :) But it's not like this problem is widespread, nor are there any indications that there is an error or incompatibility in the organizr code itself. There might be, but I expect to be able to reproduce problems that are code based, and with this one, I can't reproduce it at all, in any browser.
Medusa and Kym, and anyone else having this problem, would you mind doing this for me:
Load the organizr for me, and then go the File menu and save the web page locally. Make sure you save it as "Web page, complete". That'll create a file and a folder, both named something like "Flickr_ Organize your photos". Create a zip archive containing those items, and then email it to me at ericcost@yahoo-inc.com. You should probably add the extension .jpg to the end of the zip file name, to make sure it gets through any email filters on the way to me.
Thanks!

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you are not trying to help!
I'm seeing other threads here though where people are being frustrated with this same problem, so it's odd that you're not getting many reports about this issue. I know I didn't initially report it because I thought it was an error that would go away soon and correct itself after a few days. I noticed people having this same issue so I figured I wasn't the only one and it would eventually get fixed. It's been over a week now though and still not fixed, which is why I came here looking for help... and noticed I'm not the only not able to get to their Organizer.
Anyhow, I've created the zip you've requested and am emailing it to you now. Thanks for your help.

You're welcome.... email with zip is on the way.
In case this helps, I always use Firefox. To test this out right now I just tried to load it in IE (to figure out if it's a Firefox problem) and it still didn't work.

I just created the zip you requested, when I view the page via the file I created, I don't get the spinning dots, instead I get A "We're sorry" screen that includes a link to an "older version of organizr". When I click on that link, it lets me in! Interesting! Anyway, I will email it off to you right away.

Ok, maybe this will be of some help:
I'm running Norton's Internet Security 2003 (I keep renewing the subscription) on the offending PC.
On that computer, I was getting the endless "spinning balls" in both IE and Firefox. Clearing the cache doesn't help. Using CTRL-F5 doesn't help.
Firefox gave me this list of errors when I attempted to "organize" from home:
farm1.static.flickr.com/146/430678587_e45e1aecbf_o.jpg
Just for grins, I tried turning off Privacy Control, Ad Blocking, and Spam Alert in Norton's. No help.
Then I turned off Intrusion Detection and Personal Firewall too. Again, no help.
Finally, I completely turned off "Security" and now the page loaded and displayed!
I then turned all of that stuff back on in Norton's, and things continue to work! It's as if something needed to get past the security one time, and now I'm "infected" and the silly page will work. I KNOW that NIS is a POS. But I'm lazy and have not bothered to reinstall my OS to get rid of it so I just keep renewing my subscription to the updates and virus definitions.
I wonder if the other folks having problems are running an old version of NIS like me?
Also, I'm running Win2000 here.
And interestingly, I still get the exact same list of errors from Firefox even though things are now displaying properly and seem to work fine. Yes, I did clear the error console and try loading the page again. Same list of errors now as before. But then I guess that's to be expected since whatever temporarily disabling NIS did should not affect the way FireFox interprets the page's code.
I hope this helps everyone.

Hi Eric... I had the problem for a while before I reported it because I also assumed it was something that would iron itself out, so I can see why other people might do the same.
I have sent you the zip doofer, hopefully it will help. And your efforts are appreciated!

Thanks all!
Jim_H_WY, I think you are on to something. I'm looking through these zips, and i am seeing evidence of Norton inserting some scripts in each of these pages. Most notably, it inserts a script which I believe would have a side effect of disabling Firefox error reporting, which might be why Kym reported no errors in her console.
I am still poking around, but medusa, can you disable norton altogether and try organizr again? You can confirm it is no interferring by doing a "view source" after loading organizr and searching for the text "SymError". It should not appear if Norton is disabled.
Thanks again.

More guesses: I think Norton might be blocking this file from loading:
www.flickr.com/javascript/fold_organizr.js.v1.40.1.1.1.2....
Can you guys with Norton enabled load that file in your browser?

Eric,
I tried to save the page twice and I can't find the file/folder anywhere. They are not there where they should be :(
I see you mention "SymError" above. I saw that in "page source" of the loading dots.
Kym.
----edit----
oh. I have Norton running, too...

Kym, definitely try disabling Norton and see if Organizr works. Then re-enable Norton and see if it still works.

Kym, I am not sure, as I don't use Norton. Maybe another Norton user can tell you how to make sure it is disabled altogether? Anyone?

I can not load that file. It says "unknown file type". I will try loading organizr with Norton turned off.

Yeah JakeInVan, that error is consistent with your browser not loading the JS file I linked to above. I'll look into why that might be happening to you.

Ok, it's working for me now! Before I only disabled the firewall in Norton and it didn't work. This time I turned everything off completely (totally shut off Norton) and I was able to get in to the Organizer. To test it then I turned it back on and refreshed the page... so far so good as it's still working. I that after it works once with the program turned off, it will then kee working once it's turned back on.
Like Jim_H_WY, I too am using an older version of Norton (2003), so perhaps thats really is what's causing this problem.
Thanks again to all for your help!

Ok, I got it to work!!! Woo hoo!!
Kym, what I did was double clicked the Norton Globe icon in the system tray at the bottom of my screen (where the clock is)
That opens up the security status screen. Click on the first section where it says "Security" When you do this, on the right side it gives the option to turn it off. Do this and then try loading organizer.
What I did before was just right-click on the globe and click on disable. That did not appear to work. Going in and physically turning Security off seemed to do the trick.

Kym, at the very bottom right of your computer screen you should see icon of a green globe. If you don't see it, there might be a small set of arrows there instead... click those and then the globe should appear.
Right-click with your mouse on the globe. You will get a pop-up menu. On that menu click "disable". That will shut your Norton off completely.
Then try to go back into the Flickr organizer and see if you can get it (I still got the spinning dots for a few seconds then the page came up).
If that solves the problem for you, then test it by turning Norton back on. Go back to the little green globe, right-click, then choose "enable" to turn Norton back on. Now reload the Organizer page and see if it works.
Just make sure that when you're done messing around with stuff that you turn the Norton back on when you are finished, because if not your computer will not be protected. To clarify, make sure that Norton is showing as "enabled" and that there is no red "x" on the green globe icon.
I hope that helped.
