This morning from home everything looked fine but checking flickr at an internet cafe I'm getting other people's thumbnails which by and large are opening onto photos of my own. But there are some which are opening on to an entirely different photo again...not my own.
I'm looking at them on an internet cafe computer so surely the cache remedy isn't going to work. Any suggestions please.

I concur as well. It's not just that my photos are disappearing, having been replaced by other photos. It's that some of the replacement photos are horrible.

Not for me. Sometimes I have the right thumbnail, right description an dtitle, but wrong photo. And I only discovered this five minutes ago, so it isn't a caching problem--something's really wrong.

Amen to that! I just started having this problem in the last hour! Didn't have a problem all weekend, and I pop in to check a couple of things about 15 minutes ago, and I'm seeing pictures that are not mine as well! Did everything that everyone else has done, and no change, except perhaps some other pictures that belong other people. Not cool! I just transferred the funds over to go to a pro account, and now I'm wondering at the wisdom of that decision! When is this going to get fixed!

my icon buddy has been changed,
I changed it back,
and screen shot some of the pics..........this is
a medium size
this is the same picture small size
I changed my password, and did the shifting suggestion on this forum...............I don't feel very secure about this...............
help!
When I was looking for a photograph ....these are what showed up...
but when I clicked on them, the correct photo appeared.
What's happening? I don't know ANY of these people

This has happened to me as well again. I have seen my buddy icon turn into 5 different things now cause every time I tried to clear the cache it would change to a new pic plus I have several shots that are in my photostream that are not mine :(

Take the site down, keep the flickr blog up for updates, already.
This is ridiculous and as entertained as I am by (some of) the porn, I'm not happy with the thought of my private pics undoubtedly popping up other places (though of course MY pictures are not fugly...)

This is NOT a browser issue.
I didn't experience this the entire time it has been happening until a little while ago.
It happens with 3 different browsers and it is the same photos on each page of my stream that are showing up incorrectly. Clearing the cache and reloading just loads a different, still incorrect image in place of the older incorrect one. Clicking the incorrect image is still leading to the correct photo, at least for now.
This is a major malfunction and needs to be corrected ASAP.

I have been waiting two days for a response from flickr regarding this issue. If they refuse to address this issue officially, I am prepared to demand a refund for the year and cancel my account. This not only looks horrible, some of these pictures could be potentially damaging to one's reputation.

I think there's something wrong with the server-routing or something .. one image might have a similar ID as an other on yet the other one is located on a different server .. so same image name, different server .. I guess nothing is really lost ..
if so .. this is a baaaad day for Flickr/Yahoo ..

I'm getting phantom pictures everywhere, as I already posted, but my flickr pics I've linked to on various forums and websites are appearing correctly, even if on my photostream they've been replaced.
Still, this is craziness. A picture titled "Me" is now a photo of a large man with a beard. LMAO

Yes, Flickr - it is time to put an announcement on the main page. This is not just a matter where only people who notice a problem and go looking in help or bugs should have details. Everyone should know they might be looking at incorrect photos. When they visit the site. Those under 18 should be warned away for the duration.
Also a request should be posted that people not take photos of their incorrect pages and post those photos. They might actually be taking photos of images that are set to private and are being displayed because of this bug. No need to be letting this bug make them permanently public in a strangers stream even after the bug is fixed.

So they said that it was resolved, but it sure isn't for me. The SHIFT+RELOAD doesn't fix it either. And now we have porn photos in our company photostream. Does anyone have any contact info for a real person at Flickr? Or is there some way to take our whole album offline?

Yeah this is happending to me, too! WTF?!?!?!
This is horrible. Why are they even allowing people to keep uploading photos? Not only do I not want to see the ridiculous photos of other people, but I don't want other people seeing my photos. This problem first started happening Saturday. It's Monday.

I did the "Clear Private Data" thing AND the "shift+reload" thing but I'm still seeing those images. Anything else I can do? I have some private photos that I want to KEEP private, so this isn't really cool.

I just wanted to add that the problem is not just in photo stream, but in various sizes of the photos as well. I will see a correct photo in four out of five sizes. But that fifth one will have the identical number but show a different photo and often the wrong size at that.

It's still happening. NOT a problem on my cache, since I am looking flickr pages that I've never seen before.

I'm getting this problem as well, same pictures on both IE and FIrefox, even after clearing both caches.
After each time the pictures are still there, some of them change to random new ones, some stay the same. Only difference seems to be that *more* are now wrong pictures.
Surely it's not a browser issue if it's showing new pictures that I've never accessed before.

2.30 am CET in Germany. This is still a problem -getting all sorts of porn-like photos in the middle of my albums. FLICKR DO SOMETHING!!!!
Makes us really doubt -you have had this problem for 2 days and still nothing is happening.

This sucks. I didn't know everyone else was having this problem too, so I deleted half my pics (the ones that were effected). This is a really bad thing for Flickr and all of it's users. I hope the problem gets solved soon.

Yahoo. Do something about this. First, you forced me to merge my old skool account. I did. And now this is the standard of service I get in return.
So, what are you doing about it? As bmljenny said, you really should declare this problem on the flickr blog or somewhere else prominent (e.g. Flickr News). So ironic that Yahoo talks about "efforts to Make Flickr Better".
Fix Flickr First.
One more thing Yahoo, you'd better find a way to compensate all these irate users. Especially the paying customers. This certainly isn't what we paid for.

A lot of my thumbnails are wrong and even some when you click on them MY original pictures DO NOT show up, it is porn, etc.........
This is horrible.

Has anyone seen a reply from a staff member about this? This happened on Saturday morning and they were quick to respond. At least at that time the workaround worked, but now hitting shift plus reload on my Mac does nothing at all. I was irritated on Saturday. Now I'm angry.

Fix this asap - peoples' families and children look at their photos and they're being replaced with pornographic images (on some).
This is unacceptable, fix it or shut the site down whilst you fix it. You risk losing and affecting peoples' art and reputations.

Looks like it's happening again. Something similar happened on Saturday (it was a traumatic half hour!). I'm certain that flickr staff will pick up on the increased traffic on this thread in due course and all will be resolved. Stay calm, knee jerk reactions don't help anyone :-)

I was just looking at my pictures and 6 have been replaced with pictures that AREN'T MINE!!! P.1 DB's tail P.2 Misha P.2 Bri P.3 Img-0082 P.4 DB & DBJ P.4 DB I don't know about img-0082 but all the rest should be my cats and dogs. NOT what is there now!! Help!! What can I do? I have already posted my images to groups!
I've already closed firefox and deleted cache and everything else but it didn't help.

i tryed the shift reload thing, i just got more strange photos.
i tryed "In Firefox (2.0) you look up the Clear Private Data and select the cache and then click on the button Clear Private Data Now. "
that did not work at all. i tryed 2 different browser, but both are messed up. how long will this last? maybe i'll just shut it down and wait a few hours see if they fix this problem.

No word from the powers that be? Oh well I'm not renewing my pro account then (due in three days). I was considering that anyway. If they can't keep private picture private (and given the content I'm sure some of the substitute pictures must be private...!) I can't rely on Flickr anymore... I'll have to dust off my own webpage, which is a bore, but there you are.

man, this is so messed up. i also have private photos i'd like to keep private. i'm dealing with some sensitive medical stuff i'm photodocumenting right now, and i don't really want it all over the web.
this really blows.
