Kerstin, hold up! If this is still part of the original problem, your images are fine, and still there. In fact if you re-upload you may still find the phantoms there. So best to wait and deal I think.

It is terrible , i have all sort of bad pictures on my sets with my little son, please fix it ASAP or take down photostreams until it is fixed.
And I already did cleared cache, cookies, refreshes.

It is still happening!
I reload and reload, it is ALL the same. When one gets all fine (=showing my own picture), another one gets wrong. Terrible.

if this is just some misbehaving server, it should be put out to pasture. i'm not sure how a caching image server would randomly overwrite old files on its own, but different sizes of different images are definitely being overwritten. it looks like i will have to reupload some things later. i'm not reuploading anything, however, until somebody explains what's going on and when it will be fixed.

I have tried ALL of the suggestions and there were STILL porn shots on my site - I had been away for four days and just came back an hour ago to see this on my site. I almost had a heart attack!!!! Fix it already! In the meantime, I have taken matters into my own hands and am deleting the offensive images. Why does this crap happen every time some organization (oh, say, Yahoo) takes over another? Can't leave a good thing well enough alone? Geez. I think my heart rate may return to normal soon....

Happening to me too... I just joined ZFlickr a month ago and was considering going Pro, but this is very disturbing. I don't want people thinking these weird photos are mine, AND where ARE mine? I wish a staffmember would post, though perhaps they have the day off? Wondering if I should log off for the rest of the day--will that prevent anything weirder from happening? And are my photos safe?

Not a cache issue. I have done all the right things, and I'm still having trouble. Fortunately, no porn. A flower in place of my husband cutting his hair. I reupped, and he's there now, but not on the thumb. That's of something odd and pink (also not porn).

I would think an implosion on such a massive scale, would result in a "we're experiencing difficulties" screen and Flickr would just go down.

This is simply not right. I didn't pay money to have others people softcore (and even hardcore) porn replace my images. Makes you wonder if your "friends and family" pics are out there for the world to see.
I was told to stay away from Flickr after Yahoo took over, and now I'm starting to see why...

To add to the chorus...I was browsing a contact's stream, clicked a sane-looking thumbnail (a pic of some blue jello), and got completely the wrong photo, as seen in this screenshot:

[Update at 5:37PM PST]: If I look at the html source for the page I took a screenshot of above, I can find the URL to the image on flickr's static farm:
farm1.static.flickr.com/142/394898394_4dbe09bac3.jpg?v=0
This is the erroneous image. Whenever I reload the original flickr image page, then reload the image from static, I get a new erroneous image.
However, when I get rid of the ?v=0 and load:
farm1.static.flickr.com/142/394898394_4dbe09bac3.jpg
then I get the correct image.
I hope this info is clear enough to help Flickr staff. For now I'm closing Flickr and doing something productive--probably good advice for everybody!

This problem is also showing others' photos in my photosets, so you may want to check your photosets and follow the instructions from the first posting.
EDIT - If you click on a suspicious photo in either your photostream or in a photoset, the correct photo will appear in the next screen showing.

This is just ridiculous....at least have the decency to put a message up on the home page of flickr and be clear about what the problem is and the estimate time of fixing this rather than making people hunt for information about what is going wrong.

it's not a cache issue. I've dumped my cache, tried all the cache dumping tricks. I even tried using a different computer.
It sounds like their working on it, but I'm suprised flickr's even up at all. They should probably just take it down until this is resolved.
It's not just recent uploads, and it's not just square, but S, M, L as well. I haven't seen any originals that have been replaced. yet.

I just started noticing this some minutes ago, when my Second Life pictures started to look... let us say... a little too realistic. :P

It's 5:16 pm. I've cleared my cache, reloaded, used different browsers etc and I'm still getting incorrect photos. Including some borderline inappropriate ones. I think it's time for Flickr to post something about this problem on the public blog or the Flickr home page or SOMETHING.

ahah... I didn't know I've been to so many places recently, nor met so many unknow people... but I'd rather had this bug fixed !
the refresh cache doesn't work for me as well, when emptying the cache, the replacement pictures changes, but it's still not one of mine...
That's quite an issue !

I suppose I could private everything, which should be doable pretty quickly from organizr, but the thought of putting it all back later just gives me a headache. But seriously if this is going to go on for long (I have a hard time believing eleven days), we should get a months extension for every day this is going on. This is ridiculous.

haha... i have a black and white self-portrait that currently has a square mushroom photo as the original, an asian couple getting married as small, and a small tree as square. way to go flickr. at least i don't have porn. you guys should shut the site down until this is fixed.

This has been going on for some time if there was an easy fix I am sure that it would have been done by now...so FLICKR can you give us some information and truth. I am prepared to wait a bit but tell us what is going on please and no bull. Be honest this is a serious problem that is not going to be resolved quickly.

The wrong images also get downloaded if you use the API, and the organizer is also affected. I have random images appearing in that and then if you double click it you get yet another image.

I have the same problem in so many folders.
Why flickr have no backup?
The minimum what flickr can do .. give all pro users 1 year free.
I hope the google picture service is cheaper in next time, and i delete my flickr acount!

Yeah, the problem just showed up for me around 5:10pm on Monday. Clearing my browsers' cache and hitting SHIFT-RELOAD do *NOT* help (I hope someone at Flickr is reading before the suggested 11 day turnaround time). Also, sometimes the thumbnail doesn't match the photo underneath.

Yeh, I am another one on the list, full of phantoms in my photostream.
Hope that Flickr will sort it out soon, as it looks pretty messy and awful!
If Flickr says they are getting it sorted, can they tell us how long it is going to take? Their suggestions do not seem to be working for anybody, do they?

Who knows if setting the pics to private even does the trick. I'm guessing it doesn't... Even if I do set to private, I have a lot of work setting things back the way I want them after this is resolved... Talk about a waste of time!

this is still happening. except in my case, as an added "bonus", instead of the picture of my friends' jamming (the thumbnail is correct) there's a photo of an old naked woman. clearing the cache did not help. as a matter of fact it made things much worse: the old naked woman stayed but a lot of photos in the thumbnail set page are someone else's though they lead to mine.

Mine corrected themselves for about a day and now others have come back to replace different ones of mine, worse than before. The phantom pics only seem to appear on (My) Your Photos pages. Viewers of my photos seem to still be seeing the proper uploaded image, at least in my case.

Uploaded some photos just now, problem is still occurring. I tried forced refresh and flushing cache, no effect.
The same incorrect images show up across several browsers, so the problem is definitely still @ Flickr's end.
