My recently added photos which have received many views, favs and comments are not rated among the 200 of my most interesting. For example, a new picture with 130 views, 8 favs and 22 comments is not there, while pictures with 45 views, 1 fav and 8 comments are. Is there another bug of Flickr?
Also for the past 4-5 days my interestingness list has not changed AT ALL - in the past it used to change almost evry day....

I too have been wondering what is going on with Explore. I posted the following photo on Oct. 5, 2006 and had 15 faves by the end of the day. It is currently up to 29 faves with 280 views and has not yet made it on Explore. I've had others with only 1 or 2 faves and very few comments that have made it to explore. This is by far my most favorited photo:
On the other hand, I have a photo posted July 18, 2006 which currently only has 154 views, 3 faves and 5 comments which showed up on Explore a couple of days ago. It seems rather odd!

another thing... i had 16 photos in Explore then, suddenly, only one remained... I know this is theoretically possible, but with the strange things going on in interestingness... I wonder...

We've made some changes in interestingness algorithm last week to compensate inflation of activity metrics introduced by groups that force users to create comments and/or favorites before they allowed to post photos in the group.

Flopper, it sounds like they compensated across the board, not just in those types of groups.

I willtry not to post my photos in greoups require commenting now. I think the current interestingness doesn't compare a new photo and old photo well.

here is an image that has been dropped by scout, out of interestingness, one of 22 dropped today, leaving 10. this image has over 1000 views, 50 favourites, is in 2 pools, neither ask for nor require comments. it was in only one pool, but it was invited to join 'big favs'.
so what is going on?

I see my photos in explore has dropped to 1 at one time yesterday from 7-13 usually, but now it is back to 7. As for your photo, I think it is not unusual for one photo dropped out of scount sometimes, it will be back later.
The thing I didn't like is the newer photo that are much better than old photo but I put in group like 123 which do require comment didn't come to my 200 intresting photo list. I think they over compensated the interestingness when you put photos in such groups.
All I want is have a way to more fairly evaluate my photos ( put them in order properly if possible), I don't like explore changes their algorithms drastically and messes up the interestingness.
