[fixed] [locked] Upload limit

Rafa from Brazil says:

Hi guys!
I don't know what's happening...
I'm trying to upload some pics using Uploadr and it says I used 67% of my limit, but I can't manage to upload more pics. And if I try to upload from the site here, it says I've already used 100% of my limit.

In this month I didn't upload more than 30% of my limit.

Does anyone know what's happening?

******STAFF EDIT******

Some users were affected by a bug that told them they reached the upload limit for the month early. This did not affect all Flickr users.

The bug was fixed and incorrect bandwidth numbers were restored by Wednesday afternoon, Flickr HQ time.

I have apparantly reached my upload limit overnight, whilst asleep in a different room to the pc. Clever eh?
I apparently went from 7% to 100% at a stroke.

Does anyone share this glitch or know if its being sorted please?"

Just checked my views and some are going through the roof too - over 960 on one pic uploaded on the 16th.
It is a bit strange this.
Come on Flickr - get it sorted please

Has anyone used the Help By Email link on this? Flickr staff can be thin on the ground at the weekend, and don't always visit the bugs forum.

Same odd issues happend to me.
When I uploaded last night, used just 12% of this month.
But now, 100%!!!! I couldn't upload anything.

I checked my photos number, actually uploaded just 367 photos.
Searched by my name, now that is 4886 photos!!!!
I don't have such many photos.
Of course, I used the Help By Mail to tell the odds.

Same here. I didn't follow it closely, but I think at least 1/3 of my upload limit has been eaten by this grue. Also, weird numbers of views for some photos.

it appears as though my account has been infected by this bandwidth eating bug. My bandwidth is disappearing FAST...2 days ago I had only used 9 percent...this morning my bandwidth is at 92 percent...I pay for PRO and I should have TONS of bandwidth left...this royally stinks Flickr!!!!! I hope my account is credited for this error! It would be nice to hear from Flickr on this issue...

IS ANYONE THAT WORKS FOR FLICKR LISTENING?

I posted what could be my last pic for September this morning...

I think Broken Haiku while for pro users this may not be such a big deal yet, for the free users they are already being barred from uploading. If you can't upload then people are going to move to another service and that's not good for anyone. The developers and engineers should be looking at this as a high priority. Once again it suggests that flickr is not a 24/7 service, but a Mon - Fri 9-5 service California time.

i do have the same problem. i went to the 100% status overnight, what a surprise. but okay, i like flickr and i even understand that there are some bugs. this community is about photo fun, nothing serious. so it would be nice if flickr staff solves this problem at their earliest convenience, but i won't die from this. ;)

When Kevin says they're looking into it, they're looking into it. Kicking up a fuss doesn't help a bit, does it? Especially not in this forum which is mainly a place where users help other users. I'm only a user myself, so stop shouting at me.

I've actually reset many of the bandwidths, so please restart your upload applications so they re-connect with the site. I am afraid the problem has not been fixed overall, but this should get some of you going to upload again.

And may we all say "thank you" for that Sunday save, Kevin.

The overall number weirdness has not been fixed yet, but the upload limit as reported by kflickr is no longer several times all the molecules in the universe in the negative values :). I've got 2 GB again, off to take photos.

Kevin,
Something else - I have begun to upload four pics and all seemed well - the upload limit fell from 46% to 4%.
THEN I uploaded some more and opened this browser window whilst they uploaded. I GOT INTO MY PHOTOS PAGES WITHOUT HAVING TO SIGN IN OR PUT IN A PASSWORD.
When I uploaded the photos that lead to the problem I did the same thing - opened a second browser page. Is this a clue?
Its strange that it didn't ask me for my password.
Good luck.

i was also at around 30% (uploaded around 300 photos this month) so there's no way i've reached my 2GB limit....

both the official flickr uploading tool and the website upload states 100% which obviously i haven't close to reached yet

the only way i can reach 2GB by uploading 300ish photos would mean that my crappy Canon A95 produces 6MB+ images.. hahahah impossible!!!

it's assuring hat the flickr staff know about this problem, i hope they can fix this bug that annoys PRO users

Seems to be ongoing - I first experienced this "100% bandwidth used" issue this morning, and 8hrs later, it's still the same. I've tried re-starting all my uploader tools, plus exiting my web browser, signing out, restarting my PC, etc but it persists. Hopefully be solved soon - got a ton of shots I want to upload! :)

I went from 3% to 60% and it goes up ~10% everytime I upload 5-15 photos. Not pretty. I'm at 60-some % right now and I'd love to be able to upload for the rest of the month. My photos are generally about (and only) 100k in size... so I'd like to have this fixed.

Someone reset my bandwidth to the 2% or so that I've actually used, please. It's at 94% right now. I will be needing it again soon, and it better not be at 100% when I need it. Also, besides e-mailing support once and posting here once, I do not expect to have to address this problem anymore. I expect it to be addressed for me, and I expect my upload count to be accurate without my having to complain about it. I am sure there are other websites out there that will take my money for hosting my photos well, and not have issues like this. Please don't give me a reason to go searching...

Funny, it says I have well over 2000 photos, but when I actually click on myself, it's the good old 133.

Kevin says:

Our developers spent some time today writing tools to go through the accounts affected to realign the bandwidth numbers used with what was indeed uploaded. It's been running for several hours and will probably catch folks accounts back up a few more hours into the night (our night, mind you- it's late here).

eetree- I honestly don't know if your account was affected by the bandwith problem; not everyone's was and it looks like you uploaded several hundred pretty high-res photos for this month and your bandwidth looks like it may reflect that.

Hi,
I know you're working hard on fixing the problem. I thought I'd let you know that my account also says I am at the limit and I have only uploaded 4 photos this month, (resized to either the smallest or second smallest size by Uploadr).

Also, a couple of the photos I uploaded on the 14th are showing around 5000 views - possible I suppose but doubtful.

If you have no comments posted by others to your photos, nothing will show when you look at that link.

Occasionally the Uploadr will have a problem finishing the upload and erroneously report success when they have not finished processing and it failed. For uploading problems, please check out some suggestions:
flickr.com/help/tools/#190
Also, there is another version of Uploadr you can try out:
flickr.com/forums/bugs/24978/
Also, for general Flickr information, this is good to read:
flickr.com/guidelines.gne

As this thread was specifically dealing with a problem from the weekend that was fixed, I am going to close this one out.
