Most importantly: where is the "contact" link to send a flickr email ?

Great interface features, but weakly executed. Way too much contrast, too much bold type, and here we've gone from an elegant photo showcase to a bulletin board. How many menu areas do we need for one screen?

Terrible, nasty, horrid...
I'm serious! At first I saw the menu's and thought, hey cool, drop downs.
Then I noticed that my photo page looks different. I liked my sets on the left. I liked 3 pictures in a row, I liked the grey border around an image (a photo with white on a white background just washes away now).
It is seriously horrid and I cant believe they did not do a preview beta type thing. Even Yahoo did with their home page and they listened to critics. Flickr just shoved their new layout down our throats and expects us to like it.
I hope they wil tweak it or else this early adopter sees no reason to renew his subscription.

Since my tthread about the new Organizr was locked by Heather, which I completely fail to understand, because I honestly think we should discuss everything about the new layout in one thread, here goes again:
Am I the only one hating the new organizer?
My two main peeves:
1) The group listing is gone, that was the only only place I could see the groups I belong to in a nicely alphabetized list and easily find them. Also, it was so nice to just be able to drag thumbnails over to groups.
2) I LOVED the old display that showed a lot more thumgs at one time and the option to easily select a date range to view.
IMHO the new organizer is a step backward instead of forward, far less functional and convenient. I relize many people will like it, so maybe there could be an option to also use the old, much more efficient (for me) organizer.

I can certainly see some improvements, but I'm not keen on having two columns of pictures as I didn't upload previous pics (horizontal alongside vertical etc) with that in mind. Is there any way of changing that, at least on the front page?

I am hating the new "your photos" page. (Love the new organizr though). Too busy, don't like sets on the right, and I preferred having the full set of links to "most viewed" etc, instead of having to go the "popular" page and then the one I want. None of that a really big deal though.
One thing that's really bugging me:
Why is there no prominent upload button on the "your photos" page? I did find the little one down at the bottom, but I liked having the big one at the top.

There used to be a handy "send a messaged to.." link on peoples profile page. What on earth happened to that??
all in all, i don't like this new format much. I mean, i don't see why its better than the old one, in any way.
but not being able to easily send people messages, that just won't do at all. I certainly feel people shouldnt have to search for the link to do that...
And yes, sets on the LEFT, please!

A few thoughts:
My first impression was: "ooh, menus! I've been wanting those!" -- a good thing, for sure.
but... we thus lose a one-click link to some things, e.g. an upload button. That's kind of a downside. And then I noticed: ACK! No more sets listed on my (or anyone's) photo stream! Because the photo stream lists chronologically, it is often _not_ what I want as the primary showcase. I very much liked the old format, with a single column for images, and another column for my top 10 sets. PLEASE bring that back.
EDIT: oh. they're there, just on the right now. Hmm. Well, that's better than I thought it was, and will surely be something I could get used to... but... I'd still rather see 'em on the left, and I kinda liked all the other links that used to be there -- they're in menus now, which is great, except it means it's more clicks to some of my most-used links.
Also, if you're adding menus, a really nice one to add would be an "all sizes" menu, so I can go straight to, say, the small size, without having to download the large image on my way there.
Great to see changes, and I imagine a lot of the complaints here will be assuaged as familiarity grows, but I think the not having sets thing is really a down side -- perhaps make it a configuration option or something (or have you, and I just need to find it? I'll go look presently), and a few other things are something of a downer.
Good work... keep improving!

Well...it seems my web browser (Opera 8.54 for Windows) is no longer supported for Organizer. I wonder what else doesn't work. I wonder what else that I'm PAYING FOR that I CAN'T USE.
I hope that gets fixed SOON. If I wanted to use Firefox or (shudder) Internet Explorer, I wouldn't be using Opera in the first place.
PS: I preferred the old layout (and it worked with Opera).

swisskitlbear, There's going to be alot of discussion today and we're trying to channel it to the appropriate venue. If you don't require assistance, then help isn't the right forum. Check out Flickr Ideas or Flickr Central for discussion. I don't mean to be a hard ass, but the volume is going to be huge and we'd like to ensure that those truly needing assistance can get some support.
This isn't to say that we don't want your feedback, it's just that Help isn't the appropriate venue.

that last part says "if you need a hand", but the first part says "if you have feedback", which is exactly why _I_ posted here... Sorry if it's the wrong place, but it's where you sent me first!

I'm a fan. I just took the time to explore all the new changes (well, all that I could find) and use the new Organizr, and I'm loving the new fuctionality. I love being able to hover over a user pic and get handy options. I love the new dropdown menus. Everything looks incredibly slick and polished, and it's so easy to use. Simple menus, complicated functionality presented in a user friendly way - this has obviously been well thought out by smart people. Well done, Flickr!

Lindes, you're right!
I am really not the kind to bitch and scream, but if Help isn't the right venue, ideas most certainly isn't either and I must say, the way staff deals with comments is, at least to me as a paying customer, rather rude, if not offending.
If you don't want your paying members to run off in droves, you should seriously consider how you handle commetns about the new layout and where you allow them.
By the way, I DO need help, namely I need help with how to again efficiently organize my photos now that we no longer have a decent Organizr.

I see that (re: option for Old Organizer) now...thanks Snoboy and Kevin.
But, still, lack of cross-browser compatibility, browser-sniffing, and suggesting I limit my internet experience to one or two "preferred" browsers is nothing more than poor design. It almost smacks of Microsoft...
I find the drop-down menus load slowly, too. They are laggy when opened. (I assume they are flash-based?)

Batch edit seems to have lost some of its functionality. I used to be able to add a set of tags to several photos at once but batch edit in organizer gamma only presents you with a list of photos and you have to add the tags to each photo by hand.
i forget whether the old batch edit behavior i'm describing was available in the beta organizer or just from the 'edit these photos' link on every photostream page.
Is this a bug or have i just not been able to find the feature again?

nm63uk, it has been said for some days now on the flickrblog that new features are coming. Would you have prefered a warning sign stating it?
why can't people just read stuff before they complain, sometimes?
heather, good job you're doing, thanks so much for it.
