if they're rssfeeding by pool, adding original credits really shouldn't be an issue..

Or you might find anil@quotesque.ne more useful. He's one of the site generators and his email appears on links reached through the site. They are not rss-feeding by pool. Have had others do this and never see it as a problem.

Flickr staff, please shut down www.kon-tent.net access to static.flickr.com. They're displaying massive amounts of Flickr images without people's permission and without linking back to the image's page on Flickr. Bad Kontent! :(

Can anyone provide a link to a page that has a Flickr photo on it? Maybe I'm just dumb and can't figure out their site, or maybe it's broken right now, or maybe it doesn't run in either Firefox or IE, but all I get is a long list of colored rows with javascript links that don't do anything ...

Stewart, it's just a bad GUI.
Try this page which appears to be pulling its photos from the architectural ensembles group.

Stewart...
Sorry I'm not as savvy as curious kiwi in html & providing links. I'm obviously just a kiwi that's still in the dark! You can follow links from kon-tent.net/visual.php
Have tried my best to notify them considerately a number of times now.
Cheers

Thank you for letting me know about this mean action going on there. I agree with tycho moon to tell flickr staff to do something about it... fast, if they can.

Stewart, it's Amit from quotationsbook.com which you blocked recently. I've sent two emails as shown here.

Can I get a reply please?

Sorry Jules.. I think there is some confusion as this guy's name is ANIL not Amit and his blogsite is QUOTESQUE not quotationsbook. So I don't think its linked to this previous issue.
Thanks for your help though.

Relax people. Not trying to exploit anyone's work, just knocked up a quick flickr mashup using the webServices api and included all the groups i am a member of.
Haven't had time to update it with authorship information. Bit lax i admit and i apologise if i violated the copyright on some of the images. Section was accompanied by a clear 'photos in these streams come from various authors' message. I did not attempt to claim authorship on any of the images.
I've taken the 'groups' section down - so none of these images display on the site anymore.

I think the problem wasn't just the attribution but that the photos didn't link back to Flickr at all. That's a TOU violation. But it seems you've solved that by taking them down.

Joanfarctan (Anil) Thanks for your attention to this. Am sure that many of us with 'limited use' licensing would like to be included in your site but only if we are credited or with links back to our Flickr sites.
As I note that you did a dissertation in RSS and seem to have significant web-based knowledge I'm sure that you can sort things out so that you can post our images with credits in future.
Best of luck

Hi Meena
Yes, but my issue of blocking sites remains, so I used this thread to talk about it. I'll do my issue on a new thread at some point.

Don't forget that some developers do not have access to non-public servers. People need to give people a second or two to test their software before getting all bent out of shape about things.
It's obviously not doing anyone any harm. Would probably be a good idea to chill a little.

Are you talking to someone in particular? I don't feel that I'm 'bent out of shape' at all. Just getting others involved in a matter that I'd been respectfully trying to solve alone for a while.
Peace out...

No one in particular. I just saw some people getting a bit worked up and just wanted to suggest that not all uses of the API are malicious - some people are just playing around with it. For example, I could apply to use it and would very likely test out my work on a live server. Someone would wander by and assume that I'm using their photos because I wrote a line or two of code.
I looked at his site, and it really does appear to be 'in progress', hence Stewart's inability to actually find any of the links.

No... it had been up for a while. I let him know a while back that there was an issue yet he continued to pull from Flickr.
But he's posted in this forum (thanks Anil) and has himself now deactivated the problematic areas which is why the links mentioned no longer work.
Thanks though for your very valid point that there are people out there that are productively experimenting & and in such cases that some tolerance should be given.
