How can I use Flickr with Facebook?

Images you upload to Flickr can automatically post to your Facebook updates, letting you share them in both places at the same time. To set up the Facebook updates, just go to Your Account.

Please note: Only safe/public images will show on Facebook.

When I make a photo public is it sent to Facebook right away?

When you upload a public photo or video, or set a photo that is already uploaded to public, it will show on Facebook and Yahoo! Updates in about 10 minutes. There is a delay so you have time to rename, edit the description, rotate, or make any other changes to the photo before it's sent. After an update is sent it isn't possible to edit what's shown on Yahoo! or Facebook.

If it's been more than about 10-15 minutes try the suggestions in this FAQ.

Why are my updates not showing on Facebook?

If you've enabled sharing on Facebook but aren't seeing Flickr uploads on your wall, here are a few things you can check:

Troubleshooting

If a photo doesn't post to Facebook the first thing to do is check that it's public/safe. On the photo page, scroll down to Owner Settings on the right side of the page and click 'show more'. Check out the privacy and safety levels to make sure it's public, safe, and publicly searchable.

If you have checked that your photos are public, safe, and available in searches but you still aren't seeing Flickr uploads on your Facebook wall, then you may need to unlink and then relink your accounts. To do this,

  1. Unlink your account in your Flickr account settings.
  2. Remove the Yahoo! application from Facebook: On Facebook go to Account (upper right corner) > Privacy > "Edit your settings" under "applications and settings" > then click ''edit settings' in the "Applications you use field".
  3. Relink your account in your Flickr account settings.
  4. Now, try another upload to Flickr and see if it updates to Facebook. It can take up to an hour to show on Facebook so give it a little time. :)

How do I turn off sharing Flickr photos to Facebook?

To stop sharing your Flickr uploads to Facebook just go to Sharing & Extending in Your Account.

We use Yahoo! Updates to connect to Facebook. You can choose to stop sharing Flickr images to Facebook or "Remove all connection between Facebook and Yahoo!." If you remove all connection then Yahoo! will sever your Facebook connection and your Flickr images will no longer post to Facebook.

Why are my images showing on Facebook twice?

If your Flickr uploads are showing up twice in your Facebook feed, it may be because you also have other third party applications that update Facebook with Flickr uploads. To check this, on Facebook, click 'Your Account' on the top right of any Facebook page and select 'Application Settings'. You can remove any previously added Flickr applications from here.
