About Zen Photography *
Group goals:
Keep practice. One-mind focus on your goal and take your camera with you at all times. Pay attention to what firsts with you, what gets your attention, those subtle clues that get you to see things that you over look in daily life. Bring the mundane to the foreground. Make art out of your life. Deepen in your art, your practice of photography.
What to post?
Post what moved you spiritually, emotionally, or flirted with you so strongly you couldn't look away.
Where ever you are, when ever you start, be self honest. This is about creating your body of work that reflect your unique and authentic voice. Art only you can produce.
As in any practice we strive to deepen, hone and prefect our skills: to become better than we were. To do this we must actually take photos! So, here is the challenge: to take photos and post. This will support picking up your camera without pressure, without expectation.
Comment on others (encouragement and feedback help us grow as artists), invite others, and always maintain the focus! (Okay, that was cheesy.)
Please, ask questions! Please ask questions! This helps to understand another person's unique voice. There are NO SHOULDS. There are guidelines in photography that can help us go deeper, just like in zen meditation, however WHERE we go is up to the individual. No one person can tell you what your quiet mind looks like. But we know it when we get there!
Strive for consistency and see your body of work grow.
