About Zea Mays ~ Corn, it is what we eat.
Zea mays. Corn.
Corn is in everything we eat. Variety is the spice of life, they say, right?
Well, there is no variety in industrial food and therefore no spice. Which leads to a boring, unhealthy dinner table. Oh, and if the corn comes down with a cold... we are left with nothing to eat.
The food we take for granted depends on a monoculture of corn for sweetening, packaging, thickening, feeding livestock, etc.
The purpose of this group is to create a place for discussion and photos of corn and how it relates to the food we eat.
I was inspired while reading the first few pages of The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan to create this group. (I am still in the midst of reading it. I highly recommend it.)
