At the end of the Zakka Style Sew Along we talked about doing this again with Ayumi's (Pink Penguin) new book coming out in April, Patchwork Please.
It's a go! Details can be found here, www.flickr.com/groups/2120730@N25/
This is in the early planning stages, so more info to come soon.
I'm thinking forward to another sew along. Did you like sewing through a book?
Any thoughts or suggestions, I'd love to hear. A book you'd like to do, a quilt along, more time each week, less prizes, etc. Let me know!
I thought it would be nice to 'know' a little more about the people that are sewing along.
Share if you're comfortable!
Do you blog?
What's your experience with Zakka?
Do you have a project you're most looking forward too?
Anything else you want to share?
Oh man, this weekend has been a bit stressful.
When your the one 'in charge' sometimes you have to make decisions that aren't so fun, and for me this happened in a time crunch yesterday.
I know that many were upset about the quilt situation both those who made larger quilts and those who made minis.
I had to make a quick decision yesterday about whether or not to ...
As with all books, sometimes errors are printed.
Please check the errata page for Zakka Style and make any necessary corrections in your book!
• Not errata, just a more detailed tutorial: Update 4/5/12: retro-mama.blogspot.com/2012/03/corrections-and-tutorial....

I noticed today that there are two errors in the bottle holder project. One is to do with the batting measurements (does not really effect project to any great degree) and the other is to do with constructing the outer tube. The latter I found really confusing and in the end I ignored the instructions for that part and did what I thought was right following the pictures....
Although there is 1 project left to make next week, I'd like to post here how much I enjoyed being a member of this sewalong! When I entered I had been "brand-new" to Flickr and didn't know anything about sewalongs or swaps and such this time. And I heard about this sewalong by chance. I loved the idea of working through one book and to see the different interpretations of...
The lovely Karyn Valino, who is the designer of the pleated coin purse, has the frames for this project available in her shop here: shop.theworkroom.ca/product/zakka-frame
The CORRECT size is "4" x 2 1/8" Curved with Sewing Holes".
I'm preeetty cranky about this error (among others...geez) as this was changed during review. But please spread...
I have cut all these diamonds and then saw the Youtube video how I should have sewn strips and then cut. Now I have all these diamonds cut, but I dont know how to sew them together does anyone have a tutorial?
Hi, sorry but I am having a block in my brain - we are to link up weeks 13 to 18 for that extra prize. But I can´t find any other link that was posted?
Sorry if this sounds stupid but I just do not get it.....
I am having a tough time adjusting to sewing with linen. It ravels! The elephant project turned disaster as I got my seams to 1/8 inch and then had to keep un-turning it to catch a seam where the fraying edges were showing after too much poking. I finally tied a string to the top.. thinking perhaps it should hang on my wall.. reminding me to be more patient?
Is the pattern correct? I cannot get it to work out right. The lining is 6.5" long before stitching it to the bottom. However the outside is considerably longer. Section 2 of the pattern says to fold the muslin in half and align the folded edge along the bottom raw edge of the linen, overlapping it 1/2". This makes the outside piece measure 9.25" long. I am totally c...
I made my zig zag tote in Essex linen and used it most days just to hold my wallet, phone, etc. This morning I noticed that a hole has appeared in the bottom corner where it rubs against my body when I carry it on my shoulder. I know the linen has a lovely soft feel, but I didn't think it would wear through quite so quickly. I will repair it and still use it but I am so sa...
I've been busy working away on my messenger bag. The pattern is great but there are a few things I'm changing - adding zipper pockets, piecing the strap and sewing it as a tube... I was wondering if anyone else was making/has made changes?
I haven't been to check out the links yet, I do that when I link up myself, so forgive me if you've already covere...
Edited to Add:
I hate upsetting people and either way someone is going to be unhappy. That being said, I've decided that to enter the giveaway you need to have made the full size quilt.
I didn't set rules because we are sewing through the book and the book project is a baby sized quilt. This was a BIG challenge to get it done in a week for many who have never sew...
This may be helpful if you plan to still make the magnets--I accidentally discovered that by cutting your pieces on the bias, you will avoid a lot of the unraveling that makes sewing that last seam difficult.
I also found my bone folder tool (the point-pusher-outer thing) to be extremely helpful as I sewed the top closed. You can kind of stuff the seam in as you go alon...
